Just a couple items that I believe may help with adding a little more immersion.
Bring able to name your ship.
Being able to choose a home station (or planet one that update drops). This would have benefits such as instant alliance, deals on items sold at your home station or planet, possibly specialized missions, possible specialized gear depending on the type of station or planet.
