Well I was one of the lucky ones, and the download only took 12 minutes. So I dived right in.
1: NPC AI is better, seems to be set for pilots with average combat skills.
2: New station interiors are nice
Then the problems started. The new witchspace view is nice, but time spent in witchspace varied from the normal 12 seconds, to 40 seconds, with three server disconnects. Needless to say the 7 million credit passenger mission covering 3000 light years was a pain.
Coming out of witchspace into an unknown system, frequently resulted in the main star not being discovered until fuel scooping was well under way, or in some cases after fuel scooping was complete. Similarly, advanced discovery scanner honk to new objects being detected was anything up to 10 seconds.
Inside space stations was no better, repair/re-arm/refuel took ages, as did shipyard, bounty contact, everything laggy as hell.
I'm also seeing quite a lot of 'rubber banding' Worse inside space stations and resource extraction sites.
Then there is the audio, why did they mess with the audio? It was great before, now, well "Fuel scooping complete" sounds like it's being announced by an asthmatic mouse with a head cold.
The icing on the cake, game version number left in the alpha release. REALLY?
I love this game, but seriously, 2.2 was NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.
I appreciate the servers will have been under heavy load on the day of a new release, but this highlights something that has been obvious for weeks, if not months. Frontier needs more servers.
