A Different Approach to Bounties

A possible enhancement to the way bounties are dealt with; something that might make collecting bounties both more interesting and a little more challenging:

Currently:
  • Destroy ship, claim bounty at station.

Suggestion:
  • scenario 1: Destroy ship, claim (lesser) bounty at station (criminal killed).
  • scenario 2: Destroy ship, but pilot manages to eject in escape pod (random chance). Scoop up pod, transport to station, cash in for higher bounty (criminal brought to justice).
  • scenario 3: Damage ship and demand surrender via comms. Depending on degree of damage and nearby support, enemy might accept or ignore. If accepted, self-destructs and ejects safely. Scoop up pod, transport to station, cash in for higher bounty (criminal brought to justice).
For added variety, enemy wingmen might try to scoop up ejected compatiots and flee, so they are not 'captured', if the opportunity exists.

Not a game-changer, but could add some interest (and a new statistic you could accumulate :)

Good suggestion .. how about enhancing the looting system too so we can loot some modules from distracted ships .. more over bigger ships like anaconda can tow surrender ships so u ca sell it or own it for half price in the station
 
I like the escape pod idea.

Really simple also to implement. They have all the tools, now just on death to spawn an escape pod.

Not sure how much effort it would be to make the pod price to follow the bounty, but would be nice.

Then to sell at the black market. 0 implementation time.

Or add option to contacts, to "sell" for officials.

Maybe even so that if the escape pod is dropped, you will get directly only half the bounty, or something similar. And to cash the full bounty, you have to destroy the pod, or get even more by returning the pod.

Might be still rather small feature to implement, but with clear additional value.

Well guys most of the time the guy is needed dead or alive, so that's doesn't really matter.

But for some missions it could add some nice and fun gameplay.

Sounds like a fun alternative :) I spend a lot of time pirate popping in HAZRES', and it would be nice to have a little variety. It would also add some incentive to actually use a cargo rack in my fighters!
