A different kind of Odyssey thread

In light of all the opinions and impressions flying right now, good and bad, I just wanted to say thanks. Even though the trailer was stitched together in a few places...

As long as you agree that this IS a symptom of pre-alpha...
 
I'd imagine the footage we got wasn't actually recorded on the day or build that went live. Unbelievable the number of forum and FB threads picking fault with 8 minutes of game from a massive expansion that's still a month or two away from release.
 
It was exactly as I imagined it to be, in the constraints of the game- what will make or break it is how it plugs into the BGS, and if it brings a more human perspective to the game (think meeting Han Solo / Cantina type level, rather than reading about it and clicking 'haggle').

I was not keen (but understood why) on the VO RP and that detracted from the video- I get it was there to illustrate what was going on since its for people coming in 'cold'.

"Representative" of what's to come but I doubt many missions will be quite this well rehearsed and by the end there were a ton of soldiers shooting at the team. Them shouting in the distance sounded fantastic (as usual) but while it's fine by me if AI gets tweaked up and down at a later date, being able to shut the base down stealthy from control room OR shoot your way in and out OR anything in between, works for me.
 
Does a comparison with Anthem really tell us anything? I mean look at it now. That's before you consider this is an add on to a game with very different gameplay not built from the ground up as FPS.

I do have concerns- to say the AI looked dumb is an understatement, they just stood there and let themselves get shot! Some of the animation was a bit rough as well.

This was just one mission by the looks of it though and it may be that the stuff I didn't like the look of gets tightened up. Having slept on it I think what they showed us was some simple and representative of a mission and (critically) works without any issues, because let's face it, we're going to see some before release. You don't want that stuff in one of your reveal trailers.

Maybe they thought we were intelligent enough to understand that Pre-Alpha means it's still a work in progress and a lot of work still needs being done to it before release (and I don't mean alpha release) but we would appreciate a snapshot of their progress so far as we're always asking for Dev Diaries.

Obviously they got that assumption wrong based on the comments in this forum...
