Actually the trading role means that you are committed to trade goods between point A and B, complete missions (deliver goods, Data etc) end passengers missions.
My suggestion: as we have a Marketplace for goods we should have a passenger lounge where we could fill our empty seats or fill up our cabins with commuters.
we would have "Class type", "System destination", "passengers available", "Cr/passenger" and "Time", the time shouldn't be too long to avoid that you carry some passenger that want to travel to a station 15Ly away on a 1.000Ly sightseeing trip. The systems population could change according to the amount o passengers carried in/out.
This i think would improve RP, it would make more sense to have specialized ships for the role you are playing and not just a question of swapping cargo modules for passengers cabins.
