A different Virtual Reality Headset

Hey guys, I was wondering what you think about this VR headset.

Some specs:

  • Supports Andriod 4.4 or above
  • RK3188 Cortex-A9 Quad core processor
  • 5.5inch HD 1920*1080
  • Mali-400 533MHz, Support OpenGL ES 1.1
  • DDR3 2G Flash 8G, Nand flash compatible
  • 3000MA/h Battery built in
  • 2MP HD camera
  • 9-axis Gyro
  • Built-in gravity sensor, geomagnetic induction, nine-axis gyroscope, all promotes the interaction between wearer and device

It's essentially an Android phone in an upgraded Cardboard with a magnetometer IMU and some hardware controls. Ok if you want to do Android VR experiences. If you are lucky RiftCat will eventually enable you to make it emulate a Rift.

It's limited to android games so it'll be fun for a night and then be useless. Unless you want to sit in bed and watch      :)
Only way to connect it to pc will be with NVidia or trinius will be mega lag inducing and a pain. If you want to play pc games don't get it

Yeah I know, it's pretty much a phone in a VR headset, but I think it's still a cool toy. I guess it'll run all android VR games? I've never heard of this RiftCat, is it legit?

You know, watching movies on it isn't such a bad idea. At the moment I've a "dumb" VR headset in which I need to put my phone every single time, align it, make sure magnet works etc. This HA544 would make everything easier and probably more enjoyable.
For sure I'm not even thinking about playing PC games on it. :D
