A DLC solely with attractions, buildings, and decorations

Frontier's updates in the past have given us some great decorations and even an attraction. What if Frontier made premium attractions and premium decorations? Decorations more detailed and larger than any introduced to the game thus far. Attractions more detailed, like a river cruise that could be totally unique compared to other attractions in the current game.

What good is such DLC if there are no new species that come with it?

That free update in 2023's summer is nothing but a disappointing joke.

No, last time we got a DLC with decorations that could have been part of a larger PDLC with an animal or two and some attractions we didn't. It was a missed slot that should have added more to the game.

On one condition, you can see the guests actually use the attractions, buildings and decorations.

Its a little bit too obvious that in jwe that all the placeables are invisible to the guests.

Visually reducing the amount of guests based on the day night cycle would also be nice....

Also in jpog, the buildings were not enclosed interiors, but you could see them do this.. remember all those people walking away from the stalls with their little jp balloons and show bags?

Yes, the seats not spawning people to sit in them seem strange. This idea came from an old online game called Cityville. In it they had decorations, some with animated people or things to give it a more lively feel. I always wanted to see things like food carts, concession stands, placeable vending machines. I also wish people held bags in their hands once they exited a shop. Or had held on to something, maybe drinks.

Most of that is already in planet zoo? I guess that's the next immediate question.. how much of this stuff are the saving for jwe3 (because of course they're working on a sequel). Will jwe 3 finally make it into a planet game (even if the stamps remain..)? I guess there's alot of room in guests and park management (more than heat maps) to expand into.

I keep thinking about the rest areas in jpog. People used those, and there were vending machines in those i think. Did people use to crowd in them during storms? Without guests, the jurassic park feeling of jwe will always be lacking. Just like in elite though, what's in jwe is close enough but so far away and has you pretending.. you can pretend the guests will use the tables, you can pretend they will go to the hotels and entertainment at night, etc.

I'd honestly pay for this type of content with more zest than another species pack. However, it needs to be more than just aesthetic tickles, I need some actual gameplay and not having new features locked behind one game mode or another which only arbitrarily limits the game from developing a satisfactory game loop.

I'd probably buy it, but I don't think it'd sell as well in the short term (in the long term probably about the same).

In terms of newish players, they might go for it after a Species pack, but probably not as their first DLC. In that instance it might also be competing with Expansions, which go on sale to a similar price, but have significantly more to them.

In terms of committed players, if they're still paying attention after more than a year without Expansions (the next DLC period), they're probably still going to keep buying animal packs. There are definitely some that wouldn't be interested in a species-less DLC, so it's a slightly reduced audience, potentially for no increase by trying to get back the bored of dino packs crowd that aren't paying attention anymore.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I think a DLC with only attractions and such things could work. But it needs to introduce some fun mechanics and not just be mostly cosmetic like the cinema/bowling alley/etc

Perhaps something like a river cruise and working pedestrian bridges could work for a DLC. Or maybe also raised paths and catwalks in the aviaries.

Classic Funfair Rides.

The Ferris Wheel = The Pterodactyl Wheel
Bumper Cars = Ankly-Bumber
Teacups = T-Rex Chaos Spin (In the middle the t-rex is stood on an upside down rover tour vehicle and the teacups are designed as pods similar to that of the rover vehicle design.
Roller Coaster = Raptor Capture chase ride.
Logg Flume - Hydrosaur Bathtime ride.
dark ride - Escape The Chaos - animatronic dino ride.

I would have also mentioned the Viewing Log and the Domes as they are just variants of the basic Viewing Gallery, the Viewing Stands as well. Yeah, its nice to have them, but its just a different building with a few camera view points no different than what we already have. They simply don't do anything of interest even the Zip-line is more unique than them and I am a particular critic of the lacking interactivity of it. Like what is the point of all of these attractions, really?

Frankly, I can barely tell a difference in what the attractions do to attract guests. I know they each have some sort of indication as to a Guest Type (on paper), but does it really amount to anything? The way the game is setup the guest management is hobbled, we can't even set admission prices which takes away our most fundamental ability to control the performance of our parks. What's the difference between an Adventure or a Luxury Guest? The modules you set in the amenities? The game doesn't give good feedback its doing anything differently based on the label attached to it.

Worse, attractions have no interaction with the animals, so they don't really feel like they are tangibly there. Even the tour gets this right by letting the animals attack the vehicles. A gallery or dome can't be effected by an animal's behavior at all. I recall a phrase some like: "A shark in a tank versus the open ocean is seismically different" or something to that effect and its true. We have a virtual zoo/aquarium which is fine to see in person, but in a game I do expect to actually have something to do. JWE2 isn't exactly a good movie either, so I can't just passively watch and enjoy it for that long otherwise you notice the limited animation sets and lack of behavior from the animals. We need things to feel more like a game.
Why can't a mad Triceratops ram a viewing gallery? Why can't I set admission fees? Why don't the Guest Types mean anything in practice? Why are the attractions just static reskinned buildings with camera views?

I know I am rambling a bit now, but its a bit frustrating how 1-2 months after every single DLC we are back on here asking ourselves the same couple of questions. Making more demands for species and decorations since we are bored of what we have and only new content seems to fill the void. Then we try to analyze the game and wonder why more people aren't playing and sticking with it after a DLC drop ignoring we are just seeing cosmetic changes and throwing a few Sandbox toggles and quality of life fixes in there. JWE2 like its predecessor is lacking compelling gameplay to keep the player coming back. The systems are too shallow, too few, and it feels mostly like annoying busywork and that is probably what the general audience sees if they play a month or two and realize it.

As for the river cruise specifically, we are overdue for a water-based attraction. Not only is it visually much more unique, it has baked in movement making it more interesting like the Zip-line as there is something dynamic happening. I think for the intersections with paths and regular tours you could auto-generate overpass bridges. I have a thread about some attraction ideas I had. Most of my in-depth threads are interconnected, so just keep that in mind if you want to go down that rabbit hole.

for me too. Do you know how we ask for it at the border?

A big yes for me, and my ideas for it.

Attractions:
Pteratops Lodge for the Aviary, two designs for free-standing and attached to the side, Hotel and Viewing Location
Hot-Air Balloon Ride
Camp Cretaceous Roller Coaster
Camp Cretaceous Tree House, Hotel and Viewing Location
T. Rex Kingdom building, scaled to provide space needs for a single rex
Telltale JP game underwater Viewing Gallery and shark tunnels

Decorations:
The Big Tree from Evolution 1
The Rocks from Evolution 1, with biome texture variants
Logs, Stumps, and Broken Trees for each biome
Rock Spires and Arches of various sizes, can be used on land and in Lagoons
Kelp forests and larger coral and rock decorations
Placeable Vending machines
More benches and other parts of buildings separated as individual items like the L-benches, the wooden canopies on Amenities, the walls on the Malta Hotel, etc

Adjustments and Quality of Life additions:
Paths have a narrow viewing radius, the distance of the path's width +50%
Benches, chairs, and other seating have Viewing radius
Add a Cleanliness mechanic satisfied by the Trash Bins
Vending machines satisfy Food and Drink needs by a small amount
Boardwalks and Bridges so guests and tours can go over water
Have guests sit on seating decorations and animations for putting trash in bins

Bonjour, j'espère que Frontier pourra créer au moins une attraction supplémentaire.

Yes, the constant Dino packs are getting boring and they don't add/improve anything to the game if the other gameplay mechanics aren't updated, it's just become stale by this point and decorations only go so far...
