Newcomer / Intro A few dull questions

Hi all,

Please bear with me - I haven't got my hands on the game yet (Mac user and Kickstarter backer) but am eager to check everything's in place.

A long while ago I remember using the Web app to check my backer details and chose a Commander name etc. I can't find those details now. I can see my purchase pending in the store (again, awaiting Mac release to claim my copy) but I can't see where, if anywhere, the details of my commander name etc are now the web app isn't there.

Can anyone help? I know this is a dull request but I'd be much happier knowing everything was in place.

Cheers.

Im a Mac user also, if you have a copy of windows lying around or you can get your hands on one why not install windows in boot camp and actually play the game, you paid for the game you get both windows and Mac version. Install the windows version and away you fly into space it's better than sitting around twiddling your thumbs waiting for the Mac version. Also I'm sure there is a thread on here somewhere by Mac users maybe check your specs etc.

sort it out and I'll see you in space commander )))

Thanks - I'm looking into this. Did not realise I get both versions. Must look into this bootcamp!

It's easy to setup and some people, depending on their HW, get better performance (game wise) out of windows
You just need space (on the HD this time ;))

Also so have a search for windows 8.1 90 day trial version you can get it free for 90 days but you have to buy it at the end or just delete it. Hopefully the Mac version should be released by then

Do you know if the save game files from PC version will work on the Mac version, or is progress linked to an online account?

I could be wrong but I think they will be on a server, so accessible. For example I play on two different computers, one at home and the other at work, and as long as I don't try and log in at the same time my save is updated automatically.

as I said I could be wrong with the Mac and windows version though, but other online games use the same system eg elder scrolls online if you have the program you can log on on any computer, Mac or windows

someone beat me to it )))

You can play video games at work? Your job must be awesome. :)

Not really awesome no but I have breaks during the day and i use my own iMac there so I can play during my free time.

What at specs do you have? Are you limited by hard drive size?

Its a brand new iMac. Specs:
OSX Yosemite
Intel® Core™ i5 processor (3.2 GHz, 3.6 GHz with TurboBoost)
8gb Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX775M (1 GB GDDR5)
1TB HD

I'm confident it should run anything out at the moment.

It should run it at high with most settings, although it will get warm and the fans will run a little.

Is it the 27 " or the 21.5 " ?(The reason I'm asking is because if its the 27" you can upgrade the RAM yourself)

The size of your boot camp partition would depend on what else you run in windows, I run some things in windows so I have a 500 gb partition. Although i have a 3 TB HD. If you only use E:D then keep it as small as possible, enough space for the Windows install + updates and obviously E:D too, Maybe set it at 100 Gb but that may be overkill.

Its an easy process to do just open boot camp have your windows iso on your desktop so its easy to find, the longest part is when it downloads the windows bootcamp drivers. You do need a USB stick with at least 8gb which will be formatted.

here is a link of how to set it up

Hope that helps

if you find yourself set up look for me I'm Cmdr Lillya
