- Specify additional way-points to be included when route plotting - Some times I don't want to go from A to B. I want to go from A to E, via B,C and D in that order.
At the moment this has to be done manually. Check the galaxy map, note down the final destination and all intermediate way-points, then plot a series of smaller routes from one way-point to the next. Surely if Google Maps can allow me to specify one or more intermediate way-points that my desired route must pass through, it can't be a big jump to include this feature in E
- Add a 'community goals' icon to the list of those available for display.
At the moment I can see where friends are, where wing mates are, where I've left my ships and where I have unfinished bulletin board missions. I've already dabbled in the community goals, but I would probably make more of an effort if I could open the galaxy map, toggle all currently active community goals and see at a glance if there was anything interesting going on anywhere near my current location. Maybe even add a secondary icon that shows the location of community goals that I've participated in and still need to collect my reward for. As someone else mentioned in another thread, maybe Galnet articles announcing new community goals could contain some sort of hyperlink to take you straight to the pertainent location on the galaxy map.

- Allow me to search for a system by 'first discovered'.
Granted, there is a certain amount of vanity involved here. I have a few discoveries to my name, but I know I haven't kept a note of all the systems. I can currently find a system by searching for the name of a desired orbital installation. Is searching for a system by name of first discoverer any different/harder than this?
- Allow me to set personal point of interest markers
These would be even more useful if you could set it at a system object level. How about being able to 'bookmark' your first Earth-like discovery or that resource site that yields huge amounts of high-grade panite. Better still, how about being able to 'email' these to chosen friends over the in-game coms menu. Make these bookmarks another icon type for the galaxy map. I'm sure many explorers would use it as an easy way of marking the route of their latest multi-jump adventure. Possibly this info could be stored on local machine to avoid clogging up the central FD servers.
None of these are game-breakers by their absence, they're just a few things that seem like they shouldn't be that hard to implement (famous last words) and strike me as very useful additions that would add real polish to the game.
