Greetings commanders,
after a few days of participating into the new content of 3.0 I formed an opinion on the things I like and do not like.
Being able to find the new Guardian Structures by Galnet and having a 1000 ls detector build in my sensor (which already was impleneted in an older update as I just discovered) made content available to everyone.
It would be a shame if these sites were to stay undiscovered by most of the player base, not rewarding the developers for their dedicated and detailed work.
Also, the Chieftain is an amazing design that suits my taste.
It reminds me of the ship "Raza" from "Dark Matter".
I also do enjoy the new engineer system, especially combined with the material traders.
Constant progression for a few more roles makes maximizing ship build a lot more fun as no material gets wasted.
Also, 3 or 4 roles on G5 are usually enough to get rather high values if one does not care about maximizing.
However, there also are a few downsides.
At first I dislike the cargo dropped by mega ships.
You have implemented an awesome gameplay mechanic that is not worth doing.
The whole mega ship interection fulfils nothing but a self purpose, not being worthy from a credit based point of view.
Looking at the Guardian structures I do like charging up pylons while defeating drones.
Unfortunately, about one third of them just sit there, letting me shoot them without moving or returning fire.
Their AI needs some improvement.
It also is quite a drag to do the pylon charging 8 times in a row in order to receive enough blueprint fragments for the plasma charger and 12 times in total for both weapon unlocks.
There is hardly a challenge in doing this after having achived the activation process for one or two times.
It also breaks the immerson having to relogg after each activation in order to get another blueprint fragment guaranteed.
As it is right now a cool feature becomes a tedious, repetitive obstacle.
Either way the amonut of cycles should be lowered or the relogging should not be necessary in order to get a fragment every time.
Also, 42 Epsilon data entries at the full mercy of rngsus are way too many. I'd rather have a mix of alpha to epsilon while certain obelisks always drop the same kind of data.
Too much random number generation quickly turns into frustration, ruining gameplay.
Also, I'd like the scanner to detect Thargoid structures withing 1000 ls, too.
There simply is no reason why Guardian structures can be found like that while Thargoid bases not.
Finally, any anomaly, like Barnacle Forrests or Brain trees should be detectable the same way.
Otherwise, many anomalies will probably stay undiscovered by most players.
