Newcomer / Intro A few questions about the slave smuggling missions.

Hi All,

just a few questions regarding the smuggling missions that want slaves:

1.) Do the slaves have to be bought or could they also be stolen/scooped? Reason is I can't find any slaves (I am near Eranin and even the two nearby Anarchys don't have them in stock) but I bet I could rip some out of a pirate and scoop them, if that would do for the mission.

2.) After accepting the missions I had two NPC encounters that updated the contracts. The NPC asked me to deliver the slaves to alternate destinations instead. Now I am not sure: Do I have to deliver to the alternate destinations or is this just an option and would ruin my rep with my employer if I did it? Reason it is unclear is because it said: contract updated and the mission description in the transaction window now says: Abondon deliver slaves to $$destinationstationname$$ (like the gamestar reviewer said: Braben actually managed to screw up basics like random mission text). However, from the text it is clear where I have to deliver to.

Thanks in advance for the input.

And just for info: I LOVE this game. I am an oldtimer, having played all other previous Elites for years (and up until now still did, Amiga Elite with WinUAE and Frontier in Dosbox) and the magic is back. It is 1994 again and I am 17 again, just like when Frontier came out.

It should give you the option to deliver to either location, either the original or updated one. Depending on which you feel more loyal to, or more profit-driven.
I don't know if they taken stolen slaves or not, but there are certainly stations that have slaves available.
I can't remember the name off hand but it was an anarchy system somewhere between BOLG and I-Bootis, close to the two Alliance systems, had an outpost with over 2000 slaves available.

I too love the whole mission system, and the stories that are created from them.

1) As far as I know only bought. Since in space they will become just a fertilizer if ejected. Anyway I never seen them floating in space, besides even if you scoop it, it will be stolen so not eligible for the most of your missions.

Imperial Slaves are usually in Empire
and just Slaves usually found in independent systems

2) You can chose what fits best, sometimes rewards, influence, rating. So you can keep old destination or chose alternative but it will hit reputation with your faction that gave you the mission.

Welcome to the business of trafficking slaves Commander. This is a very lucrative business and not for the faint of heart. How lucrative? Slave trade afforded me a Type-6 transport to move larger amounts of bodies to supply the needs of my clients. You are based in Eranin. Visit Azeban City and pick up some contracts from The Brotherhood of LP 98-132. You will need a steady supply of slaves nearby. Visit Miller's Refinery in Hepa. Tell them CMDR Vilorde sent you. You can pickup additional orders that need filled in Morgor and LP 98-132. These contracts have a decent fulfillment time, so you can pool them to maximize your trips. Expect to pay 10,000 - 11,000 CR a head and expect a return of 57,000 CR with a minimum of 47,000 CR a head. Low-balling figures at a pay out of 47,000 CR with a retail price of 11,000 CR a head is a 36,000 CR return Commander. If you need smuggling assistance, the easy way, please get in touch with me directly in-game. My alias is: CMDR Kane Vilorde

Clear skies Commander!

I've seen slaves drop once so far. Some pirate attacked me so I killed him and he dropped some slaves before dying.

They are in canisters but they don't hang about long. You have to scoop them up quick.

Nothing like some free slaves...

1) They have to be bought, look in "anarchy" government systems.
2) Currently the system that gives alternate objectives is borked. I completed one by abandoning the modified mission and then returning to the original giver, but that's just one personal experience I couldn't say whether that works reliably.
