Newcomer / Intro A few questions

Hello,

as I'm new, I have a few questions:

Where do I get permits for Sol/Achernar and how much do they cost? Are there other "restricted" systems?

What are the life support upgrades for?

In solo play - what influences your chances of getting interdicted? If you fly without cargo, will the pirates care at all?

As there are 400+ billion systems (supposedly), are most of them inhabited (procedural generation)? Or will I run into parts of the galaxy where there are not stations at all?

Also, I have a Beta Premium Account - apart from the Mercenary Decal for the Sidewinder, are the other paintjobs already available? What about the manual and digital artbook download?

When will the E:D App (iOS) be usable? Currently, it is not possible to log in.

Cheers,
David

1) I believe you have to up your rep with the relevant faction before they will offer you a permit.
2) When your canopy gets broken you have a limited supply of air, better life support means you have longer to dock before you snuff it. Trust me you might not have had it happen yet, but when it does it's a lot of fun.
3) You can get interdicted when empty, but it's not likely, chances vary on the system you are in.
4) Most are empty, for now, anyway.
5) There are about a thousand threads about the extras, stuff will become available when it does, or at least that's what I glean from all the posts.
6) Wondering that myself, soon, I hope.

Thanks for the information!

For earning reputation within the Sol-Faction, does that mean I have to stay around Sol, do missions until I can buy a permit?

Check which faction controls Sol, find a nearby system where they also have a presence, do missions for them there. Having good relations with the Federal major faction might also work; I have the default Sol Permit, so I'm not sure.

Check which permits you have already with the systems panel on the right side of the cockpit, use A and D to scroll through the subpages.

Sol is the home of the Federation, and you will eventually be awarded a permit if you run missions for the federal navy, not the local factions. I think the first ones are labelled "Federal Marketing Agent" on the bulletin boards.

Welcome Commander

1: As a Beta Tester you should already have a Permit for Sol. For Achenar you need to build up your rep with the Empire and do a mission. For other restricted systems you need to find a mission which supplies a permit.

2: Feldspar has supplied the best answer for that one :)

3: In an Anarchy system you can be interdicted for just being there, in Lawful systems the Authorities can interdict you to do a cargo scan for illegal goods. There's no differences between Open and Solo mode except in Open other players can interdict you.

4: Outside core areas the number of populated systems drops off rapidly. If you plan on heading away from core areas I recommend you equip a Fuel Scoop and Repair module.

5: As a Beta Tester you should also have gotten the Cobra Nest pack which has paint jobs for the Cobra (or was that only available to download during Gamma?). Digital staff can be download from your account at the store site.

6: I have no idea as I don't have an iOS device.

Good Luck Commander and see you out in the Black. :)

It looked like I had the permit all along - thanks guys for the tip! ;-)

Also, the hauler has an amazing range, well over 100LJ unloaded, with one gas tank. And I made some money on the way by exploring the stars.

Haven't got a cobra yet, is there another way to check for the paint jobs? I got the mercenery one for the sidewinder.

have cobra now, but I don't have any skins for it.
However, I managed to attach the mercenary skin.

Should I open a ticket somewhere?

Apart from that minor detail, I'm enjoying the game, doing mostly rare commodities trading.
