A few random game thoughts ...

Firstly, a great game which exceeds all expectations. (Almost) worth waiting 20 years for. Now a few comments...

A. Pity there is no external views of ships - third person camera (I think this has already been mentioned)

B. Hyperspace jumps ending VERY near a star. So far I have not smacked into the star but I have had to pull up very sharply or got an emergency stop. I think the comment has been that the star is visible over light years hence is the obvious destination, but surely you would be in the gravitational well of the star and hence not able to exit that close (so most science fiction would say)

C. General issues about supercruise - fine idea, but when exiting SC the ship judders in place for about 20 seconds doing nothing - perhaps a bit smoother drop to normal space should occur ...

D. The same to C applies to HS jump - the effects are fine but pretty juddery - could do with bit more work on the entry to and exit from HS

E. Not really done any combat yet but controls seem fine. xbox 360 pad works well for me, but I also have a fairly cheap joystick on the way. You just have to work at it ...

F. A maximum of? 32 players in one universe? I can understand if the limit is due to the P2P nature of the game but it's going to be awefully lonely with 400 billion ?? star systems and only 32 players... Or have I got the wrong end of the stick here ...

G. Dropping out of SC near an unidentified signal source ... when I drop out I always lose the source. What's the trick ?

H. Finally ... there must be a better way to make money than trading *FISH* ...
Fish ... pah. Very high tech lol. :D:D

These are not criticisms as I am loving the game and one beta a day is fantastic work from FD. But just a few random thoughts I have been noting down.

Cheers all...

PS I forgot to mention I - look behind / above (you can do above) and below - can't seem to do that ??

FD don't want to give an external view - as in third person flying, however they might provide some sort of drone camera for external screenshots/looking around, but nothing confirmed yet.

Hyperspace goes to the largest gravity well in a system aka the star. Best thing to do is when you are in hyperspace set your throttle to zero. So when you pop out you can manoeuvre without going into the star :)

The judder is to do with a matchmaking / instance issues / network issues. They will probably smooth them out as they improve things. Also it depends on how busy the destination system is, and where the players are geographically related to you so things can take a little longer to sync up - hence the judder to fill in the time gap.

D. The same to C applies to HS jump - the effects are fine but pretty juddery - could do with bit more work on the entry to and exit from HS

As above.

The max of 32 players in the instance around your ship.. as you move in space players can join and leave your instance, so it will seem like a lot more, especially as NPCs etc. are not counted in the limit. It is a physical networking limit not engine related.

G. Dropping out of SC near an unidentified signal source ... when I drop out I always lose the source. What's the trick ?

Are you locking on to the source first in the navigation panel?

H. Finally ... there must be a better way to make money than trading *FISH*

Yep - find a high tech world near an agricultural world.. trade meat/coffee/tea one way (to high tech) and trade tech stuff back (e.g. crop harvesters or something else they may need).

PS I forgot to mention I - look behind / above (you can do above) and below - can't seem to do that ??

Have you mapped some keys for Head Look in the options menu?

I hope some of that helps :)
