Xbox player here! First and foremost, I want to say that this is my second Frontier title (ED being the first) and I really like the game. I think it's well built, looks great, and has a lot to offer.
That being said, it has some pacing and maintenance issues that, left unchecked, I feel could turn a lot of people away. One of my friends has already shelved it because of this. A few quality of life improvements could fix these issues, so I'll go into them.
One would be a pause option for the game-time function. It allows people to get a breather without having to log out of the game. Sometimes you need to assess what's going on to build a gameplan for dealing with it. The storms on the second island can damage many structures all at once and taking inventory of the damage while paused would be helpful, especially when you're dealing with raptors!
Second would be the ability to assign crews to automatically do jobs. I shouldn't have to hold the hands of Rangers and ACU units, but I should have to manage their areas of coverage. When a death or illness crisis occurs, you literally can't do anything other than constantly assign Rangers or ACU, and if you don't, illness is sure to spread.
Third, the ability to speed up time. I sat for two hours in my park today until I had enough money to move forward. I was told to sell unneeded buildings to make more cash, only to find that once I did, I needed them to complete the missions. I get that things shouldn't come instantly, but this was a bit over the top. Maybe just like double or triple time would be nice.
If those few changes were made, I know I'd be a lot happier. I know my friend would keep playing, and I think it would be a great set of changes to improve JWE.
Let me be clear, I don't think this is a broken game or that it was rushed, nothing like that. I just think some things aren't really fully realized until it's in the hands of those who put many hours into it. I still love it, and I hope changes like these are considered down the road.
Thanks for an experience that is more fun than not fun, even if this post is only focusing on the not so fun side.
Cheers!
