I've been playing "Elite Dangerous" for a while now, I started on console, and when I had the opportunity, I moved to PC, I bought the game for the second time, because it's outstanding and deserves it. But there are a few things that prevent me from going back to ED and diving into it for good. A while ago, a new ship appeared, something we've been waiting for a long time, I downloaded ED, the goal - Shinrart Dezhra, I bought a beautiful Python MK2 and what next...? To make reasonable use of the ship, you have to upgrade it accordingly, so I planned a route to visit every necessary engineer if possible. It took about 3-4 hours, great because I had a supply of materials, I only lacked 2 things to get my stats to 5*, but ok. It's good enough (although a slight bad taste remained). I'm off to hunt some pirates, I'll check how the ship performs in combat, and I also tried out the new FSD function for the first time - GREAT THING, I've been dreaming about it for a few years, and I finally got it. Satisfied, I changed my ship to the good old Alliance Chieftain to hunt some bugs. It went well, but a few things need to be improved. And again I have to look for the nearest new power plant and a few other things to adjust the ship to the requirements of the situation and again I spend my precious time trying out a new ship configuration, and I think to myself... after all, this game has such cool "community goals". Beautiful sceneries of thargoid titans, sound, graphics, story lines. I think to myself, I'll put on headphones, turn up the volume and have a great time. Before I went to the titan I used YouTube knowledge. And it turns out that I have no reason to fly there with my ships, the thermal efficiency of my ship is hopeless, it won't work. I have to make a new ship, specifically for this task. Fantastic... again half a day of flying, and in the middle it turns out that I will run out of some material, of course I will be able to exchange it, but I have to look for a trader... and again I have an uphill battle. And you know what? Excited after a few months of break I turn the game off after 2 days of playing. Why? Because I don't feel like flying for half a day for something again. There is still the matter of the Odyssey expansion, where I have to jump and fly around engineers again to unlock better equipment and you know what? I don't want to do it even more. It hurts me that a game with such great potential has a huge muzzle imposed on its gameplay in the form of grinds, tedious tasks and many other difficulties that require the player to devote only their VALUABLE time. Look at your statistics. When something long-awaited appears, you gain players, but the charm disappears when it turns out how much effort it takes to get to the new content. Dear developers, you have created a fantastic game, it is really a great piece of work and I thank you for that. Graphics, SOUND!!! music, scenery, community goals, politics, ED community is a masterpiece that few people manage to create. But the game has been crippled by unnecessary difficulties for some time now and it gives joy only for a moment.
Of course I respect every different opinion of every member of our community, it's just that after a few years of playing, a few months of break (during which I excitedly browsed the app to see what was currently happening in ED) I gathered some deeper thoughts that I wanted to share.
I also have a few conclusions that I would like to discuss with others. A few suggestions that would perhaps attract new players, or allow old ones (who have been scrolling through the app for a few months) to return with a smile on their faces.
1. Fuel scoop should be a standard in all ships.
2. The amount of stored materials should not be limited
3. Less painful grinds (I don't know anyone who has fond memories of gathering materials for Dav's Hope or grinding for F. Corvette or Cutter.
4. Crafting materials and upgraded ship parts could be traded on fleet carriers for credits.
5. FSD range and fuel consumption - interstellar travel is beautifully done but let's not kid ourselves, this is a loading screen, travel to distant parts of the galaxy could be faster.
6. It's 2024, so if I can buy a washing machine on "Amazon etc" and they'll bring it to my house from the other side of the world, why do we have 3310 in ED and I can only bring my ship from the other side of the galaxy, and I can't order a ready-made modified component from an engineer or a ready-made ship at the station equipped as I want, with as many modified parts as I want and wait for the courier to bring it to me. And pay for all of this with credits (which are getting useless at some point in the game) Let's spare ourselves this boring chase for improved components once again to the same places. IT'S 3310 YEAR!
Thank you.
