A game that illegally used Cobra Mk 3s.

Okay.

In the early 90s I played a game which was a series of missions and battles with cobra mk IIIs. It wasn't Elite. It was some sorta homage. There might have been vipers. They were all wireframe and involved escort missions and such. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I do remember Federation Of Free Traders from that era, but I don't recall any Cobra clones. It was a long time ago though.

FOFT - damn that was a LONG time ago. If i remember correctly it was damn easy too, you just sat in station and bought/sold as the markets fluctuated - was to easy :)

Yeah there was no trading in this game, just combat. Why it stuck in my head, was definitely CM3s the other reason it stuck in my head.
