A growing issue: Empty Bulletin Boards

Since last night I've ran into 3 large stations that have absolutely nothing to offer me on the Bulletin Board. Not even unobtainable missions. Just nothing. They never restock, they never fix, they're just empty from now on, and I have to go elsewhere for missions. This is a getting a bit ridiculous. I'll finally find a good station to farm rep with, then it goes blank on me and I have to move again. I feel that putting in a ticket will solve nothing, as the mission system is getting a rehaul soon anyway. Is there any way that I can restore the Bulletin Boards on these dead station, or am I doomed to continue travelling to new stations and pray I don't get the bug in a new spot?

Have you tried relogging? If you log off and on and switch between open and solo, it will generally load up new sets of missions. That's how I do my rank grinding.

Hi Adium,

Sonce the serve update a couple of days ago, I have seen empty bulletin boards, and sparse bulletin boards.
It improved this morming after the weekly maintenance though.

I've relogged multiple times to no avail, but I didn't swap between Open and Solo. It appears this fixed the issue. I appreciate the help.

That's interesting, I have just started to notice this too. It seems to be some sort of bug introduced (server side?) after a recent update.

Cycling between open and solo does not work for me.

Keep doing it. It doesn't work every single time you log in and out. Seems like if you already have a pile of accepted missions, it doesn't give as many. Just my experience.

I've had this happen as well, several times, and it's not always the same station. Logging out doesn't help, it's more like when you click on the bulletin board, it never connects with the back-end to refresh, it's always too fast returning with, well, nothing. Generally, after a few loops around my route, things return to normal. It has nothing to do with the number of missions accepted from what I've encountered. You can have no active missions and this will happen.

I have been hammering the missions last 3 weeks on same stations.

I am getting lots of missions spawn constantly in most of them.
There is 2 that don't and I been slacking a bit on them anyway.

It was slow at 1st but I've learnt how to encourage the missions out of them.
I'm still learning a bit more about them.
It's actually quite clever how they work but very slow updating.

You have to be careful what you do in the faction's sphere of influence.

I sat at a station for five days and it had no missions. I wrote a ticket, the next day there was an update and the thing got fixed. Of course with the big update very close, I doubt a ticket would help right now, but it might at least provide comedy effect.

Don't count on the update to fix it. That problem existed in Beta, and likely before that.

I've encountered this problem since the beginning of time as well. I'm sure its just another bug on the list of things to fix. I would assume its pretty hard to reproduce and is sporadic enough to not be at the top of the list.

I accept that the missions are odd but I'm not so sure they are buggy.
It is not clear what is happening when they don't generate missions but there is a reason.
Just got to work out what it is. That isn't always easy or obvious. It is bad design but powerplay looks to address that.

My best advice is go to a system with no commanders. You have more control.
Some missions have a negative effect on generating new missions.
Same with other events.

I am doing same thing as OP, I got allied with 3 minor factions. I tried all 5 factions but it was too much to juggle for one player.
At 1st I had same problem, no missions generating.
Now those factions generate missions all the time. I get loads of missions now.

I have just moved to a new area and will do the same again to test what I've learnt.

I think this is not so much a bug as it is the mission function of Elite, as it stands now, was not properly finished or fleshed out. It looks like they built a skeleton system for the beta phase and started working on this powerplay thingy for the final product. I'm fairly confident this issue will resolve itself in 1.3

I'm likewise having this same issue.

My biggest concern is that the "Progression mission" is not longer available no mater where I go ...

This morning before I logged on, I seen it in Maorsi on the station I was docked in. I undocked, returned to Chi'lin and empty BB's, through the whole system ...

Now, no matter where I go, or what I do, I can not get the mission for progression in ranks to return so that I can continue on.

While this is not currently a game stopper, as I did not have plans to buy the Clipper any time soon, it is however, an issue that I hope, as some say, gets resolved in 1.3.

Anyway, I wanted to note that I was having this same issue so that it was being tracked by the Devs. Hopefully it's fixed so I can continue my rang progression soon. Thanks

I tend to frequent the same places over and over...Zacuto ring is a nexus for a lot of my activities and over the last month or so, the bulletin board has been empty...EVERY TIME in Open, Group and Solo.

I've seen it elsewhere too, and my hunch is that high player traffic does something wonky as every station I've seen with an empty board has pretty high traffic numbers.

You have to make the faction give you missions.
You have to get the ball rolling. It's slow at 1st but then they just keep popping.
I am getting no problem recieving missions from any faction I go.
The real problem is the missions themselves but thats another story.
