Normally I wouldn't grab gratuitous screenshots, but I just jumped into the T'an system, and found this pair around 2Ls apart.

Beta Lyrae should be one - the infamous system that caused FE2 & FFE to crash invariably if you jumped there.

Scoured the wierd systems thread for it, but couldn't find the screen I saw. The system map actually had two stars cutting into each other. Might just have been a glitch with the map though, I just really want to go there to find out...

I wonder if it would be possible to see stars actually share envelopes though. Point their barycenter and deform the spheres to teardrops or something. I've no idea how to do it technically, but it would be great to see!

I just jumped into another system with a hot pair.

Fuel Scoop started scooping immediately, and my Asp got cooked well over 100% heat while taking the first two screenies (yes, my throttle was set at zero)...

Just for fun, an ice cold pair as well...about 3,000m between these planets (I was at 0 throttle and shot through the gap a LITTLE faster than I wanted...nearly clipped one of em):
