I wouldn't object if it was going to be a lot better. There'd need to be a *long* lead time between announcement and implementation. Anyone out in the black who cares should have more than enough time to come home and get the credits and rank for what they've already done.
I imagine that the allocation of credits for the value of discovered objects could be done without requiring the pilot to return by automatically selling all unsold UC data for all pilots during a move - but that wouldn't give people the choice of where to sell it for reputation gain and ways around that would be finicky. But yes, a month or three's lead time would be ideal.
It's all an interesting conundrum for the developers and I can sympathise with them if they're in a state where they know there are fairly simple changes which could be made that would make the galaxy a better place but are precluded from doing so by the 'live' nature of the game (this is not a criticism of ED being online, I hastily add...
