A key bind to Lock Afterburner OFF

Countless times i afterburned into a wall destroying my ship. I've used the afterburner key far away from my resting position, but then, for combat, it's not that efficient, and it's that kind of thing that VoiceAttack is too slow.

Please a binding to lock afterburner OFF would be awsome (just like it is right now when scoop or gear is down)

I did this myself in my HOTAS binding software by disabling boost when the gear button is down. IMO the game should disable boost when your gear is down (like it does when your scoop is out) then as long as you drop your gear before or while entering the station, boosting will be impossible.

A nice alternative to this that would also fix the issue is to boost only while holding the button, which will drain your engine power gradually rather than requiring the whole bar. Once click would only boost you a fraction so exploding on a wall is less likely. Sadly I don't think they would change this though as boost gives a temporary increase in manoeuvrability so changing the activation would mess with the flight model balancing. The first option, disabling with gear down is more likely.

Boost doesn't work while your gear is down. Before devs made this change I moved my boost to a different button in my throttle that was less error prone.
when I don't feel like being a daredevil I keep my gear down until leaving the station and lower it before entering.

I use the x52 missile fire button for afterburner. The one with the safety lock you need to flip up to fire :)

I have mine atm on TAB. Sitting right by my WASD keys to fly. I think i did a boost crash once first day. Never happened again. How can you do it over and over?

Deployed landing gear disables the afterburner, so keep your landing gear deployed until you have well cleared the station.

Oh come on, you need dipers too? What other buttons do you want disabled to stop accidental crashing? Did crashing not teach you to fly more carefully? You must be in a high risk insurance group it seems. Learn to fly from that experience instead of trying to simplify it else where does this whinning for this and that stop. DEVS got enough to sort out.
TAB is a bad place as I hit CAPS on my flat keys which has a 1second blank screen for some daft reason. SPACE is a better place for boost for me.
