General A list of things that I think could be kinda cool to have in Elite Dangerous

Alright so I've been thinking about a few things that would make me want to choose elite dangerous over games like star citizen. Idk it might just be a bit of inspiration to the devs.

1. The ability to walk around inside of the ship. It would make the entire experience a lot more immersive.
2. Bigger city/station areas where you can walk around. Again, it would just make it so much more immersive.
3. Better atmospheric rendering. Elite Dangerous already have some pretty neat atmospheres. They got the calculations for mie-scattering just right, but in my opinion, what they need is more density. When im on a planet, even with a pretty thick atmosphere, I can always see space, even in middle of the day. So just a little bit more density would make it a lot better.
4. Generally more freedom. I know it must be a pain to give the players more freedom, but it would just really make the game stand out more. I'm just talking about things like getting out of your ship seat, walking around. Who knows, maybe jumping out of the ship.
5. Better third-person view, I cannot express how much I hate the third person view of the ship. I just wanna be able to move my mouse and just easily rotate around the ship, like in basically all other games when you're in a vehicle.
6. This is probably one of the most difficult things to make but I think it would be very cool. Planets that actually feel alive. I'm not even necessarily talking about vegetation, but really just stuff like, bigger cities, more varied architecture, better landmarks on planets. I feel like it's extremely rare that I find a planet with a city where I'm allowed to land. It always just some site where I don't have permission to land.

And that's about it. Tho keep in mind, im an absolute so all of this may be much more difficult to make than I think. I just wanted to throw my thoughts out there.

They complained more about the 'fade to black' for the Armstrong moment yet you give them a game where you cant move anywhere without a loading screen and they love it 🤷‍♂️

Obviously "they" dont mind so much as it was made out. Just like "they" dont care about innteriors in a game that isnt designed around it.

I agree with the list for the most part but as a space game I'd say being able to actually explore space is a better reason to choose Elite over Star Citizen, that and Elite not being a PTW cash cow for the devs who seem to be content with focusing on generating that revenue stream rather than actually completing the game for a V1.0 release that was meant to have been delivered by the end of 2015. But ymmv.

There's only one sensible reason to choose ED over SC. SC is not a game, it's an ongoing paid tech demo. ED is an actual game.

Not fussed about the other suggestions you made, nothing personal. Number 5 however, i wholeheartedly agree with. One press to go into outside view, scroll around with your mouse, zoom in and out with your mouse wheel. It's so obvious it hurts. No, instead we get 68 buttons to configure. It's the most complicated and stupid way to do outside view of any game i've ever played. The devs really should have looked at how some of the other space games did it, i mean Freelancer has better outside views than ED

The Camera Suite is exactly that, it's meant for screenshots and movies, not as a third person ingame camera. Once the bindings are configured there are a few good decent ways to make it work to capture some good images/footage but that's not to say I disagree with just a simple third person camera view as described in OP's request.

The only things I would like to see implemented in the Camera Suite are 1) the option to enter it without having the keybindings showing by default and 2) turning off the FOV distortion when zooming out for a wide/panoramic shot.

I can do a screenshot with PrintScreen button if i want. Way better and easier ways to achieve what ED have gone for without all all the useless extra buttons. Their philosophy seems to be why use two or three buttons when you have the whole keyboard to play with?

Yeah I mean, I def agree that being able to explore is already a great reason. And also in my experience, playing star citizen with a decent framerate requires a fcking nasa computer lol

Yes you can capture the screen with PrintScreen, however the camera suite lets you set up the screen to what you want to capture, that is its purpose.

And don't forget the advanced features like depth of field and focal distance and blur around the target, sure you can capture stuff with PrintScreen, but it's not a camera!

I mean, that's all and well for you, but there are those who think the Camera Suite is worth the extra buttons and are worth learning. Maybe you should try first before writing it off?

Elite is a pretty deep game in that way, the level of control of your ship if you set the bindings is pretty amazing, especially when you consider the flight model is so buttery smooth. Having the extra controls rewards the players who put in the effort while at the same time newer/less flight focused players can be happy with just knowing the basics, though I'm not suggesting it's a pick up and fly process, but that it's a good thing that the learning curve extends beyond which most deem necessary IMO.
