Newcomer / Intro A little advice to my fellow players....

Hi All,

This is my first proper post, apart from my intro. some months back.
First a little background. I've been playing since late November. Like everyone else I started with Sidewinder but as I opted to join in the BETA stage I got an Eagle too. So after a little of flying about, getting used to the game controls etc. I traded in my Eagle to get the ~40K credits and have some working-capital for my Sidey and off I went in Search of fame and fortune.....here are my findings help notes for those who may be interested.

Early Days of Trading
I used this http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ to find a good trade route in the area I started in (Aiabiko - Gooch Terminal) now it took a little while and a bit of hunting around but this worked perfect for me.....

I bought Gallium or Beryllium from Hu Jona (Hyecho Station) and jumped to HR 8170 (Fiennes Station) sold them and bought Advanced Catalysers and went back and forth for what seemed forever but believe me it's a quick run only 4.72 Light years and the real beauty is that the route is bi-directional. I was making a profit of approx 1050 credits per ton bought of Gallium/Beryllium and Approx 800 credits per ton on the Adv Cats. Fairly soon I had enough to upgrade to the Hauler then the Adder then the Cobra ultimately to a Type 6 where I max'd out the cargo space and making just under 200K per run.
Now its not the biggest of bucks but the route is safe and as mentioned before VERY VERY quick I was making about a Million credits an hour. My target was an ASP + plus a fitting out fund for it. The ASP is a truly wonderful bit of kit which is now even better now it doesn't cost so much to repair it :)

But then with 1.2 Wings they released the Vulture....Oh Happy Days....Grinding is over for me time for some serious fun in the Resource Extraction Sites Bounty hunting.

Vulture tips and locations of stuff.
I bought my Vulture at LFT 1748 (Otiman Dock) - you can get most of the hardware for it there too.
However, nearby is Anlave (Suri Park)- where you can buy various different items namely the relatively rare (IMO) Gimballed E3 Burst lasers.

Now the good bit... Ross 302 one small jump away from LFT 1748 is a system with some Resource Extraction Sites - In a good session I can make well over a million and its FUN!!! doing it too :)

Just my thoughts and few little nuggets of information there for those who may be interested.

Good Hunting, Message ends.

good trading, flying & upgrading there.
Have only traded in the Sidewinder & then upgraded to Hauler to explore in my 6 weeks so far. May do one or two more big explorations...although I always get "the fear" on the return journey in case the shields burn up, I get interdicted and wasted, or I run out of fuel surrounded by stars I cannot fuel scoop at!
Will then follow suit with decent ships to start fisticuffs! altho I know I'll have a bloody nose before I give one!

Yes, thanks for the tip as regards the lasers. :) I'm in the system now, as it happens, checking out Pratchett Station so I'll hop over to Ross 302 and get me some nice Burst Lasers while I'm here.

Please let me know if they are there :)

Guys,

No worries re tips etc good to share the info..

The burst lasers are at Anlave - Suri Park.

I hunt Pythons, Clippers, Dropships and the biggies Anaconda's at Ross 302. My Vulture is by no means top specced but is a very capable ship I'm not a bad pilot either lol.

Suri Park also sells the D4 Hull (+ 120 armour) reinforcements if your interested :)

Doing well there CMDR.

A little tips to all new players looking for routes is to check out the list of third party programs that are available for the game, such as edshipyard.com and the rares route planner, as well as Slopey's profit planner- they all make finding a decent route a lot better, just don't choose the top one as it usually gets eaten up very quickly!

Hi Danube,

The TCE trading tool looks very cool. Will have a proper look tonight, thanks for that.
