So..yeah...dlcs, what might be coming? What's your thoughts?

Me, i'm putting my bet on 'Water-based Lifeforms DLC',
'Birds and Vultures (Avian) DLC',
maybe something prehistoric, too;
oh and a 'Nocturnal Creatures DLC'
something along those lines.

Let's see who had the right hunch, once there are a few DLC packs.

I bet the first one will be either “Australian Animals” (with the kangaroo as main face) or “Antarctica Animals” (or some variations that can include polar bears and penguins).

These three animals are very obvious additions that didn’t get in probably because their physics with jumps and water needed extra time. I think they are working on them now.

Europe, South America, Australia, Polar regions, Marine animals and Aviaries are kind of the obvious ways to go I think. Personally, I don't think they'll go for aviaries soon, because to me, the game isn't really set up well for this.

I'd also go for marine animals before polar regions, because there are a lot of aquatic/semi aquatic animals from the polar regions that would improve from getting water stuff perfected first - this includes penguins. But then, the Polar Bear is such an obvious and popular choice, I'm not sure if they'll wait that long... Maybe we'll get a Christmas DLC with Polar Bears and Reindeer.

Obvious (non-exhibit) animals that come to mind as missing to me:
  • Polar: Polar bear, penguins, musk ox, caribou, arctic fox
  • Rainforest: Jaguar (panther), malayan tapir, ruffed lemur, giant anteater, sloth, giant otter, babirusa, capybara
  • Grassland: Leopard, meerkat, blackbuck, kudu, black/white rhino, ethiopian/maned wolf, rothschild's/masai giraffe, serval, przewalski's horse, dik-dik, wild donkey, grévy's zebra
  • Sahara: Scimitar horned oryx, addax, dromedary camel, fennec fox
  • Australia: Kangaroo, platypus, koala, echidna, wombat, emu
  • Europe: Red fox, eurasian lynx, moose/elk, otter, beaver, alpine ibex, chamois
  • Others: north american cougar, porcupine, deer in general
I honestly don't see us getting marine/ flying birds(soon) unless they're just glorifed exhibits (birds sitting on a perch in a cage, or small aquarium species on loop animations).

Whatever the next DLC is, I believe it will add some more “traditional” animals: animals that will use the already existing locomotion methods and don’t need new rigs / massive alterations of current animations.

It’s the first DLC after launch! They will need some more time to optimize other movement patterns. Especially diving animals and flying birds will come with a larger “Expansion”-sized DLC, imo.

Yeah, for now I think we're a lot more likely to see some side-species that can either reuse, or pull heavily from the current animal rigs

So that would cut down my list to:
  • Lemurs: ruffed, indri
  • Tapirs: malayan
  • Big cats: leopard, jaguar, north american cougar
  • Bears: polar bear, sun bear
  • Rhinos: white, black
  • Giraffe: rothschild's, masai
  • Camel: dromedary
  • Pigs: babirusa, red river hog
  • Canids: ethiopian wolf, maned wolf (maybe foxes)
  • Horses: przewalski's, somali wild donkey, grévy's zebra
  • Ostrich: emu, rhea
  • Flamingo: andean flamingo
  • Peafowl: green peafowl
  • Antelope: lots of options
  • Gazelles: also lots of options
  • Maybe a few of the other ungulates (musk ox)
Animal species/families I'd like to see but would need new models/animations:
  • Penguins(any)
  • Sloth(any)
  • Giant anteater
  • Meerkat
  • Fox(fennec, arctic)
  • Otter(eurasian, smooth-coated, giant)
  • Platypus
  • Echidna
  • Small Cats (lynx, ocelot, fishing cat, serval, any)
  • Marsupials (kangaroo, koala)
  • Large Rodents (beaver, porcupine, capybara)
  • Deer (elk, caribou, any)
  • Caprinae (alpine Ibex, chamois)

I‘m really excited about how DLC‘s will look like in Planet Zoo. I already know how it has been done with PlanCo but I think it will be a little different on Planet Zoo!

thanks for the great listings of Animals... i fully agree! Hoping for some antarctic and aquatic animals! How there will be someday bird houses etc possible.
