A little help buying off Todd the Blaster please?

Ok, I've recently decided to approach Todd as one of my "not yet explored game avenues" and have spent some time accumulating his CR100,k.

Only to get aced on the way - losing all my unclaimed bounty.

I'm now half-way to the total again but am struggling now. I've gone from taking Cr5k to CR20k per bounty to CR350 to CR770 and that includes defending miners at extraction points.

Am I missing something?

Have you done much bounty hunting before? Are you using the Kill Warrant Scanner?

If you're finding it difficult, I'd advise going to a HIGH RES and following the cops around for a bit. Let them do the leg work and you can just finish the wanted ship off at the end.

A single Anacona/Python can be worth over CR 100,000 if you hit them with the KWS, which should be enough to complete the requirement in one go.

Maybe.

You don't need to hand in all your bounties at once. Hand them in when you're in the area and have a few k, then go out and collect a little more, hand those in, repeat. That way, yo uwon't lose all of it again.

Thank you - so I've just been unlucky. I'll persevere.

I own a Kill Warrant Scanner but have yet to come t grips with its successful use. Target ship, fire scanner, nothing. Guess I'll just have to try a wider variety!

Make sure to let the scanner run before attacking anyone for bounties too. Sometimes even without the KWS, the basic scanner will identify wanted targets. Depending on the ship you're flying, event pirates can be enough to pay off that 100k. Otherwise what is suggested up thread about going to resource extraction sites and scanning for wanted targets is probably your option.

The KWS is a little cryptic, it has to be said. However, providing you're in range then if you compare the Contact information before and after using it you should (sometimes, not always) see that the bounty value has increased.

When you target the ship, you need to hold down the scanner.

You'll notice a bar on your HUD under "Kill Warrant Scanner" filling up, it can take 10 seconds or so and you have to be within a certain range (which varies by scanner grade) and keep them in your cross hairs and range for the duration of the scan.

Practice will make perfect, and KWS will help you make much more money!

I was aware that the KWS was activated in the same was as the DS but I was waiting for red letters to appear where there previously weren't any. So it just shows that naughty boys might have more than one open warrant outstanding? Cool!

Yep! It has two main uses.

For 90% of the time, you're doing regular bounty hunting, and it'll increase the amount you'll be paid for destroying wanted ships.

In Anarchy systems, which have no laws of their own, you can sometimes find ships that are wanted in other jurisdictions.

You have to keep the wanted ship in front of you while the scanner is scanning - it takes maybe 10 to 15 seconds; the line for the scanner in the HUD will show "complete" when it's done.

You can then look at the total of all that ship's bounties in the "contacts" list in the left panel, but the primary thing the KWS does for you is let you collect bounties on that ship that are from outside the system you're in currently. It's frequently a huge difference. You should use it on every wanted ship you attack.
