A log book

i need a logbook so i can doccument where i'm going and my route, as well as what i did

muh 25,000 lightyear journey to the center of the galaxy

muh star trek: voyager: the game

I used to do that on the amiga, it is great... but I must say, this really should be in the game. The basic legwork should be done for us with just a small free text box for each system we visit imo.

a pad and pen or external digital note pad just dont work in VR imo, which is the only way I will ever play this game now.

An in game log must currently be on the cutting room floor I suppose. Hopefully something like that can be added in in 2015.

Have had fun writing up some in game experiences in the forum, so decided to make this a regular thing and created a blog to do it on. Entry one on the C Log of Faol Glas is out now!

Nice Blog, bookmarked ;)!

Did also remind me of the Captain's Log feature from Star Trek... With Voice Attack it should be doable to make something like that. But who would want to listen to hundred hour long audio logs ;)? And writing everything down, every day, ... that is quite the commitment. Hats off to you, Sir.

Thank you kindly! Will document my time in Elite as best and humourously as I can - can't promise to be in ED every day, but will get the log updated as often as I can! As well as humour, will drop in what hints I can too, listing things I discover, like the Power Distributor for the sidey, so it may be useful now and then as well. I just enjoy writing though, so that is the main purpose behind it - a glimpse into how ED feels for me as I play!

I am currently keeping a hand-written log of each system in the starting bubble I found myself in for Gamma 1. If I'm in the same place for the release wipe and if they don't change any of the information it should be useful when I restart.

I have noticed since Gamma started:
  1. A lot more outposts
  2. When there are mutiple stations and outposts in a system they often have different economies and allegiances. A fed station right next to an anarchic independent for example. You can no longer put the whole system under one heading.
  3. A lot of interdictions (discussed ad infinitum elsewhere). I evade most of them so I don't know if they are System Authority or pirates.
  4. In Open the bubble I'm in seems crowded. I get docking denied at outposts, apparently because all the pads are full and there's a queue. Switching to Solo solves the problem.
Getting out of my bubble could be an issue. The number of systems available in the stock sidewinder is about 15 or so and no sign of an FSD upgrade yet (also much discussed elsewhere!). Still, the info I'm recording will hopefully be useful.

Love this idea, perhaps you should have waited for release to officially start your log and after a year maybe publish it? A bit like those books available like The dark wheel except it would be a real account of your adventures in Elite Dangerous.

Thank you The Dice Man! Aye thought about the gamma wipe lol - I will have to find a way to account for it in the log, I am sure I can come up with something! I wanted to start right away though, as an antidote to some of the negativity (not change requests etc, that's positive, but a lot of those who seriously dislike the game) - wanted to show how Elite is for me when I play.

Also hoping that on the 16th Dec we'll see some story come to life in Elite itself, that will make things even more in depth for the stories we all tell ourselves as we play too! Happy trails Commander!
