...and while sipping drinks, has a word with some guy for staring at his missus 'the wrong way'. Perv boy throws a punch at the bloke, but then promptly gets decked.

The man that reacted to the violence against said pervy miscreat then gets a good beating by the miscreants' chums, because, well, they were there... the dude with the hot lady didn't check first before having a little word.

Ladies and Gentlemen... This is how factions in Elite Dangerous work. Even if one of their own is acting like a turd, they will still want to take a chunk out of you if you start a bar fight 😎

Ummm, that's pretty much like real life dude.. If you plan to throw a punch at some idiot (even if he's in the wrong) Expect to deal with his mates too. Typical night out in Croydon for my entire college days :/

edit - Ok I saw that also while trying to rank with the Empire... I guess either attack wanted guy's one on one (I interdict them) Or deal with the small fine from the cops getting involved. I've been decked by bouncers for trying to break up a fight. Am pretty sure if the wanted guy fires 'first' the cops will lay off you.

I would carry around Gold just to provoke them to fire first.

Seems to be a lot of misunderstanding with bounty hunters regarding hitting wanted targets but being turned on by the faction security for 'no reason'.

This post was meant to provide a real world example, but it seems I've failed in that attempt!

I did get your point, and nice paraphrasing, though I myself have not encountered the situation and I am not currently even bounty hunting, just exploring and (some) rare-commodities trading at the moment with a Type 6.

The problem is that the OP is using apologetics to try and justify something that is a bug. In gamma the devs stated they fixed it but clearly it's still a problem. There may be some realism to it in theory, but if you think about it in many situations group A put a bounty on an individual B due to some crime he commited. If said individual is in group Z and members of group Z jump to his aid, fine, makes sense; but what often happens in ED is that he is in group A, and group A members jump to his aid...the very group that put a hit on him...they are literally begging you to kill this guy, willing to pay for the service, then get mad when you do it. Its a bug. Stop blindly defending this game. YES men don't help, true friends or fans, ones who want their friends or Fandom to thrive need to be able to criticize, other wise things will never improve
