A month ago, everyone was complaining about how boring ED was

I hear what you're saying but what no one seems to talk about is whether open is better than solo?

does anyone have an opinion?

The Open vs. Solo debate is dead now that the vocal casuals can focus their collective ire on the improved AI.

We need a mode called "Empty" with nothing but the galaxy in it. Let the carebears just trundle off through the PG galaxy and leave the normal people alone.

In the interest of clarity I have made a Guide, the Moaner's Matrix.

As of today, 28th May 2016:-

Open vs Solo < mile wide inch deep < new AI < Grindy McEngineerface < I am leaving because you, FD, have Broken the Gamez.

Is that it?

Solo or PG but with no ambient NPCS, only ones spawned by missions or RES/Conflict Zones/USSes/NAV Beacons
I wonder if the Servers could manager that, as would function as a difficulty slider per se, as you only engage what you get yourself into

im new to the forums but felt with the new patch I had to. I found the game hard enough before and never complained about it being too easy. I had to have a friend babysit me for some time to get me going. I died 42 times the first day. several more since. this patch just makes the difficulty insane. its soo over the end im afraid to leave my base now...I get some players are really good and would like it harder though so the best compromise to meet the needs of all players is to have a difficulty selector/slider. that way in my old age and slow reflexes I can still enjoy a proportional experience.

You're right now no one is saying its boring.

Instead they just aren't playing.

I'm sure that's what Frontier wanted.

I'm not sure how that could be done in a game like this. Imagine that there were such modes; player 1 plays on easy mode and buys an anaconda and takes it into hard mode where he may have an advantage in trading. Or if the modes are separated then that would split the player base.

The only way I can see it working is of the zones are clearly demarcated and interdiction happen based upon the type of ship one is flying perhaps or, combat rank or liquid credits. That will determine what is spawned. Wings will automatically be determined by a score based upon the members in the wing and their ranking.

Something of that order might work.

How do you know they aren't playing?

The massive amount of people on the forums who say so, myself and several of my irl friends have stopped playing until it is fixed, a lot of my wing has also stopped playing until an update.

I mean pick one I guess.

Problem solved!:D
Iunno....
Warframe got even grindier, so the only content I have left todo will take me 30-40 hours minimum of monotonous grind... so I'm not bothering with that.

And there's some pretty severe rolling ping issues with Mechwarrior Online atm.

And Elite Dangerous is currently unplayable... so?

Iunno.
I suppose I should finish some Xbox One games?
Or start on my backlog of Steam titles.

Not no one, I reckon... around 50% though.
