A Musical Request from the Audio Team...

Hi everyone!

Bringing you some sweet-sounding news on this dreary Monday afternoon...

As you all know our Planet Coaster Audio team is absolutely amazing at what they do, from arranging the beautiful soundtrack we all love to implementing an incredible array of sounds to complete your theme park experience - some of which you might not even notice at first (which is a true art)!
Now they'd like to hear from you:

What type of ride trigger sound effects and ambience audio would you like to hear in Planet Coaster?

For example: imagine being on a sci-fi themed dark ride, and your guests are going through a laser-infested areas. However, all you have is explosion sounds, which just doesn't 100% complete the experience you're trying to create. Now's your chance to ask our lovely Audio masters about these sounds that, in your opinion, would be awesome to have in-game!

Simply comment below and tell us what sound or tune you'd like in Planet Coaster, and who knows; your voice might just be heard!

[heart] Bo

Oh wow. It's so great you guys are asking us what we would like! I have great respect for you devs, other companies can learn a lot from you guys. This is how you treat a community, outstanding.

Much love, Frontier Developments [heart]

Now for the sounds, I have no clue haha. I didn't have the time yet to play the game a lot, so I'm going to let my fellow players decide what they want ^^

Doors and floors creaking...

Lasers pew pewing

Western - whips cracking (Wapoosh!)

Plus any sound modeled after my name would be freakin' awesome!

What a nice opportunity.

I would love:
  • 'Magic' noises
  • Distant talking to sound like a busy area inside, like a busy castle (for rides)
  • Sawing noises
  • Computer beeping
  • Typing

Heyyyy musical people. I'm an aspiring composer myself. I don't have the game yet, but my current laptop is about to die so I'm very excited for the funeral so I can get another one which can slay this game. Forgive me if some of these sounds are already in.

Chainsaw
Screams (good for queue lines)
Maniacal over-the-top laugh
Wind-tunnel
Wooden creaking
Train choo-choo sounds (like on the chain lift for Expedition Everest)
That sound that plays on The Swarm as the coaster goes past, I don't know how to describe it, very distorted and rapid-fire, it's featured on the trailer for the ride as well
The sound of wood breaking like on Thirteen @ Alton
Do doors make sounds when they open?
Sirens going off (Warning alarm, or police sirens, etc.)
That 'ding' a traditional elevator makes just before doors open, like on Tower of Terror
Radio Interference / that noise walkie-talkies make when you lose contact - would be good for sci-fi
Dripping sound that water makes
Baby crying
Faint whispering
Trains going past
Gas leak
Out of tune piano
Satanic backwards talking
A generic sound for an electronic system being initiated/turned on
Countdown from 10, 5 or 3
"YEE-HAW"
Multiple people going "YAAAAAAASSSSS"
Plane Engine
Helicopter
Animal roar - lion, t-rex
tick-tock of a clock
Farm noises

Here are my ideas:
  • Animal Sounds
  • Planco spoken phrases
  • Heart beat (without the pings/flatline)
  • Car Horn
  • Breaking glass
  • Piano

I would love to see a screams, slamming doors, blood dripping and just plain out horror sound effects. Also maybe the option to add your own sound effects to the game for the Trigger-able speakers would be amazing because I tend to build recreations of real like Haunted Houses and Id love to use the actual sounds from the haunted house by using the triggered speakers! [happy][happy][happy][happy][happy]

Oh I would LOVE a Thunder trigger noise with rain possibly. Like especially if I'm building a dark section and pass by a window and trigger the thunder rumbling from outside all spooky like!

I like the hoot of the owl suggestion but also would like to hear birds chirping/singing to use in a forested area. I agree with all the other suggestions above as well.

Everything that's already been mentioned as well as some different voices in Planco speak:
Boarding / exiting message before the train leaves the station or enters the station after the ride. Or maybe the attendants / employees could just do that by default.

Also a couple countdowns would be nice for a launched style ride...

Definitely more spacey sounds like the elite dangerous FTL drive spooling up or metal creaking steam FX

Primarily sounds you would find in a haunted house or horror movie.

Thanks for taking an interest frontier team. Hats off to you.

For me a simple count down. It could be used for launch coasters as an example. From 5-0 for example.
