I'm sitting here in a tired, beaten up ASPX(HMS Rubber Ducky) that has carried me across a galaxy. Behind me is an ordinary and unremarkable, yet magnificent class K star named Beagle Point. I'm staring at a band of light which I have watched grow into the brilliant and awe-inspiring ocean that is the galactic core, before contracting back again into memories of a few months of nostalgia, fascination, sheer boredom, awe, boredom, anticipation and hope. And now here I am.
Seriously! I thought the ASP would be way more ****ed by the time I got here! WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!
And yet all of a sudden I'm acutely aware of just how alone I am right now. H.. he.. hello? A.. any.. anyone?
You'd think at least a Starbucks or a McDonalds or suttin! Nop! There's **** all!
So let me know if anyone is out here. Would love a cup of tea and a conversation. Leftovers from the first DWE need not apply. It's been too long since that expedition, and if you've stuck around all that time you're probably too crazy. Go home!
Incredibly, I started to run into systems that other commanders had explored a few thousand LYs after the core. They were few and far between at first, so it didn't occur to me to keep a journal. But at around 20K LYs away from BP they became more frequent, before becoming a common sight as I got closer and closer. Every name I came across was a an absolute delight that kept isolation at bay and was a reminder of all those brave souls that also had way too much time on their hands.
Commanders, I salute you...and apologies if I have misspelled your name. I was drunk during most of the journey.
