A New Appeal For Hypsilophodon In A DLC

I am quite elated at the Compsognathus in the recent DLC, as I had thought that it would never be coming to the game. It also raises my hopes regarding something else, Hypsilophodon coming to the game.

I have several reasons for believing that Hypsilophodon ought to be in a future DLC, which I will share here:

1.) There is a sort of unspoken set of iconic "archetypal dinosaurs," that Hypsilophodon is on. What I mean by this is as follows: When you think of ceratopsians for example, many names come to mind, but Triceratops is the one that sticks out as feeling like it "needs to be there" as permanently representative of the whole group. Well when I was younger I thought of which dinosaurs are like this, (like how Triceratops is to the ceratopsians or how T. rex is to the large carnivores), and I arrived at 12 names. Eleven of them are currently in the game. Hypsilophodon, (representing the small ornithopod "archetype" -there's a reason back in the day why all small ornithopods were "hypsilophodonts") is the only one remaining that is not in the game. I'm hoping it can be added to complete this list.

2.) It's book canon. In the Lost World novel Sarah Harding sees hypsilophodons being chased by velociraptors when she first arrives on Isla Sorna.

3.) JWE needs more small ornithopods and is severely lacking in this category. Homalocephale, though almost exactly the same size, is a pachycephalosaurid making it a marginocephale, not an ornithopod. We have lots of dinosaurs from almost every other category conceivable EXCEPT the small ornithopods and this needs to be fixed. Currently the ONLY small ornithopod in game is the Dryosaurus, while there are numerous animals in almost every other category. Hypsilophodon, being the most iconic of this group, would be perfect to help flesh out this mostly overlooked category.

Well those are my reasons, and I know others want it in the game as well. So if you agree, comment and speak out.

This and the Psittcaosaurus I would love to see. In the same way that Igaunodon added the Igaunodontid type to the game (which sadly only includes two dinosaurs atm) I'd love to see a new archetype added for Dryosaurus and Hypsilophodon. Also getting more variety in terms of size would be nice. We've gotten plenty of large dinosaurs. The last few DLCs have been good to us as far as small dinosaurs go. I still think they could give us more though. Hopefully we can get some of those really interesting and beloved dinos like the Hypso this year.

Personally I think Hypsilophodon and Microceratus are essential additions to Evolution now that super small dinosaurs like Compsagnathus are now possible. Their presences in the novel and film canons are too note-worthy to ignore at this point considering that nearly every other canon species is now already featured in-game. Psittacosaurus also appeared/appears in the Jurassic Park: The Ride/Jurassic Park River Adventure attraction(s) at Universal Studios Hollywood/Universal's Islands of Adventure. Plus the little guy is one of my personal favorite dinos, so of course I agree with you based on that alone! :giggle: Protoceratops would also be an excellent addition to the game's Small Herbivore roster as well, although personally I'd want it to be scaled up a bit so it could go toe-to-toe with a JP/JW Velociraptor.

I agree with the Microceratus as well. I do feel like we have a lot of Ceratopsid dinosaurs though, so I'm hoping they spread the love around a little as far as what sort of Dinosaur types they include in this years DLC. Personally, I do think a smaller Ceratopsid would be nice, somewhere between Protoceratops and Microceratus size.

Another dinosaur I'd like to see would be Oviraptor, especially if we get a Dino similar enough to Protocreaptops. I definitely want a Hypsilophodon though. It's in my big 3 of Please Gimme This Thing in 2020.

Yes I would like to see Psittacosaurus too. Hypsilophodon and Microceratus are long overdue though, especially as both are canon. Also the franchise has been teasing us for a long time with Microceratus and has yet to deliver it. I would definitely want that one.
