Well some may think of Combat Logging as when someone cheats by unplugging their PC when they are about to die. Well hopefully commanders in future will have the balls to take defeat with honour and the term can be applied instead to my new EDtool "Combat Logger".
What does "Combat Logger" do? Well it automatically logs your fights. How do you use it? Well at the start of an engaugement you speak out "Identify target", your AI replies "What are you targetting?". You say "Cobra Mk3", she replies "Target identified as a Cobra Mk3". This process is quick and easy, highly reliable and good for VR users. Then you fight. The fight is terminated when you speak out "Target destroyed" or "He got away" or "I'm Dead". And that's how easy it is to use. Speak out "Identify target" and on to the next battle and so on.
Your Combat Logger then analyses each fight on it's completion and posts a story about it to ED TOOLS nice system log. Once there you can edit it add more experiances or maybe add an audio log too. The logs are sorted by system name and date and time.
Features:
Log every kill story will no keyboard interaction. All fully auto. Very easy to use. Accuracy tricks employed to get VA recognising spot on.
Log the places you were killed and what killed you.
Super fast operation does not affect the game at all. If you don't say "Identify target" it does nothing.
Upcoming features:
Commander Spotter - semi auto dictate last known position for a commander for PVP ers
Miners Friend - Auto log your best mining finds
Engineers mate - Materials auto logger.
Explorers Friend - Auto photograph and compile an HTML magazine page describing a system and including pictures of the features.
I am the worlds worst PHP programmer (I only started yesterday) so with help these could be ready sooner and even "Combat Logger" is not ready yet... but I see plenty of potential. Great for role playing players or players that want to have a "history". It can sort of write a story about your Elite journey for you!
Here are some examples from my basic version:
2 Jun 3302, 22:02 – Battle report
I was attacked by a pilot flying an Federal Dropship. He destroyed my ship.
2 Jun 3302, 21:26 – Battle report
I attacked a target in the Kaus Australis system. The Federal Dropship pilot ran from the fight, I chased it but it escaped.
2 Jun 3302, 21:10 – Battle report
I was in the Kaus Australis system where I attacked a target wanted by Independent Kaus Australis Values Party. The Orca pilot was an easy kill, it tried to evade me but was extinguished by my superior firepower.
