A new holo-display?

Ok, I get that point there.
Sorry for being insulting if that's the general feeling. It must be that I am, did not intend so.

No worries.

Personally I'd love to have the panel visibility bound to a key as they do get in the way a lot. I don't have VR but I do use Tobii 4c and those panels popping up is really irritating. Having a button to hide them away temporarily would be a good idea, in my opinion.

That could be a thing yes. A reduced hud option would be good - for now we have the option of completely deactivating it, which is useless in most situations. I'd like different modes. Whole thing, battle, navigation...

Exactly!

That why I want an "holo activation" binding. Say, if I don't push the pinky button, then holo will never come up, no matter where I look. But, if I push the pinky button, and I look at nav panel, then only then does the nav panel pops up. This way, you sort of have the best of both worlds.

In other words, I want my intent of holo activation pop up to be bound to a key/button, and which panel to pop up is indicated by where I look. NOT the current whereever I look at, it indiscriminately pop up w/o my explicit command!

Obviously, currently, you can use 4 buttons on your HOTAS to bind to 4 diff panels. But, that's an inferior solution to the one I proposed, b/c we already know which panel the user want by where they look at, and the panel would pop up at the correct location.... exactly where they look at. There is no reason to waste 3 additional precious HOTAS buttons. I mean, darn it, even w/ a Warthog, I am running out of buttons! And, adding my spare Warthog to it would not help, as I don't have 4 hands!

I have to say that I'd like it the other way round, pushing the pinkie button would hide the panels and the default behaviour would be for them to show up. But that could be an 'invert' setting in options.

Fair enough. Make it a drop down to select "Hold to activate holo", "Hold to deactivate holo", "Always activate holo"....
