CMDR Posidana here
Enroute back to the bubble from the close of the Distant Worlds Expedition I happened upon this jewel. This close orbiting binary pair of moons BOTH graze into the outer edge of the asteroid rings (just not at the same time as far as I can tell). These moons also appear to be doing speeds approaching that of Mitterand Hollow in their large orbit around the Gas Giant. If I try to approach the planet from the trialing edge, I can only get to approximately 61 KM and no closer. If I go around to the leading edge (while still in the vicinity of the rings), I wind up falling clear through the planet.
I was finally able to land by approaching from outside the far edge of the rings and getting into the moons influence from out there, then approaching the rings in glide mode (or boost when that ended). Curiously, as I got out in my SRV the rings moved away from me and I was never able to catch up, not even when I got back in the ship and boosted toward them. (it was almost as if the planet were lifting out of the rings...).
When I activated my FSD again to try and catch up with the rings, I was IMMEDIATLY dropped from SC and dropped through the planet again.
I don't think I will report this as an actual bug as this is that level of rare, and will publish the address once I return to the bubble and hand in my data. For now, enjoy a few screens and vid.
Caution - lots of MASSIVE PICS
