My brilliant, lovely, wife got me exactly what I wanted (but was not expecting at all) for the holiday... a Saitek X52 Pro! Yaaay, wife! It's amazing, and I absolutely love it. Here's the thing though: I've been playing since early beta with a logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It's... a bit of an adjustment to say the least. Now, I didn't hop right into the game with it (because I'm smart like that), I instead went into training to tweak my key bindings and get everything set up just right. Once I had it all set, I noticed my flying skills (specifically how shoddy they seem compared to flying with the stick I'm used to), so I decided to go through the other training modules. I did... okay I guess in the combat modules, but then I decided to try my hand at the docking training so I won't blow up my hard-earned adder or viper in the real game. Wow. Just... wow. I'm banging all over the place, crashing into things, hitting the landing pad at full speed and rebounding off, managing to come in at ridiculous angles.... It reminds me of a youtube video another CMDR posted a while back. I thought it was a parody, because surely docking wasn't really as hard as some people made it out to be (I thought). No way could one person make so many increasingly ludicrous mistakes to compile a landing blooper reel like he did on accident. Boy how wrong I was, lol XD Given the amount of time I have to put into the game at the moment between work and the holidays, I think it might be at least a week before I'm feeling confident enough to venture back into the deep end of the pool.
