CG's are pretty boring, if we're all honest, delivery this, shoot that..no real feeling of actually achieving something.
So, how about a paid for CG that takes place over a few months (free to crowdfunders obviously)?
For example.
A previously unlogged Generation Ship is discovered entering an inhabited system (could be a permit locked one whose inhabitants are reclusive paranoics) and there is a rush to contact it before it reaches the orbit of it's originally planned destination.
We could deliver diplomats, medical experts, scientists to make contact and make sure they're healthy etc (they could have evolved noticably different after years out of contact from humanity, carry a weird disease we need to cure).
We could have to defend the ship from attack from political factions who want to see it destroyed. They could be aggressive toward the planets inhabitants as landing there as per the original mission has become a religion to the people on board.
We could collect distant relatives from the Bubble to visit their long lost cousins.
Maybe the Generation Ship, after getting into trouble, created a small colony on another planet and we would have to go out and visit that to investiagte and gather data (permit locked to none payers). Is the colony finctioning? Has it been wiped out? If so how?
They could have evolved their own tech (weapons, fighters, modules) over the centuries, and as a bonus, if we keep the ship alive, players get to use that tech (a reason to pay for the CG).
And after it has finished, the ship goes into orbit around the planet (if we manage to keep it going etc.) as a great place to go vist.
Yeah, I am no coder so all this is probably far too much work and unrealistic, but if once every 3-6 months a new scenario was released, this would be great for Elite (and help fill those coffers - bonus!).
