I thought this simple lightbulb would be nice in the game or perhaps help shine some light on the amazing people of earth. It came to me whilst dreaming of aliens eating my cat last night so please bare with me. Especially for all nerds, geeks, experts, noobs and mongolian throat singers awaits a most awesome idea for all to happily debate and share colourful thouuhts on (yes colourful thoughts!). I'm hoping the following idea (below) will be concidered in a future update, myself and my imagitive followers here believe it would make the game better in multiple ways, we're using the methodology of unicorn miracles in the hope of success atm so please share your thoughts as they will help alot!, also involve your fellow commanders, all words counts!.

So what is the MAIN idea?
- The idea is add a (Fade on/off button), that removes bookmarks from the galaxy map but is still visable on the bookmark list, INCASE YOU NEED THEM AGAIN! aaand.. To help players manage display settings on the galaxy map.

- This button will be within the bookmark tab (somewhere simple right?!?)

- Also, a second button function would colour code the text name and the bookmark icon representing it ON DA GALAXY MAP, so they match colours accordingly.
TooowOO, saaaave this being over complex and visually overwheamming, the (Fade on/off button) would switch these COLOURS off and on as desired.

In other words, highlight only the bookmarks you wish to see, remove it from the map but keep in your list (faded),

TO MAKE IT BETTER!
We programm the faded bookmarks to the bottom of the list so the highlighted ones are always at the top.



! SO AFTER THE MAIN IDEA IS PUT TOGETHERE....... THE ONE ABOVE!
We could secondly, add a few filters to go with it all, heres some random suggestions, alot of random suggestions


- Display bookmarks within x distance - on/off (bypasses everthing, hides everthing out of x range, unless the bookmark is selected manually)
+ huge range so the near by empire, fed, or independant space is still displayed (or not)
also this will allow players to work in small areas without getting confused or clouded by bookmarks planned out in tight spots

- Display Empire system controlled bookmarks - on/off
TURNS ON ALL FADED OUT BOOKMARKS IN EMPIRE SPACE
SELECT COLOUR

- Display Fed system controlled bookmarks - on/off
TURNS ON ALL FADED OUT BOOKMARKS IN EMPIRE SPACE
SELECT COLOUR

- Display Void/Deep space Bookmarks - on/off
TURNS ON ALL FADED OUT BOOKMARKS IN VOID SPACE SPACE
SELECT COLOUR

OTHER IDEAS
- ADD BOOKMARKS TO CATEGORY FOLDERS
DRAG BOOKMARKS INTO OPEN AND CLOSABLE FOLDERS

3) WHY?
- The reason is save us scrolling through alot of bookmarks, we simply see only the ones we wish to see at the time, it also allows us to catgories everything we book mark and see the pretty stars on the galaxy map.

A good example would be categorisng FEDERATION, EMPIRE, INDEPENDENT, or VOID SPACE, bookmarks into folders, or one small list if you just prefer the fade button.

- You would be able to do the same thing with bookmarks (you named) specifiy choosen for Rock Mining, Mineral Mining, hotspots, Fed HQ, Engineers, Permit systems ect, however you name or code them, the feature would space them out for you and allow you to focus on the areas you work in at your best. Of course colour would be an optional imput with defaults available for those who prefere a standard look. This feature would also help the visual impaired, dyslexics and increase late night coffee sales.

Plus mibi a few simple templates would give folk an idea, a mega helper, game progression booster, would be sweet.

Please post: GOOD or BAD as a header in your comments, followed with any thoughts, or alternative suggestions, its an idea thats up for debate and everyones thoughts count. Good/could be better is acceptable :)

Having an improved bookmark system is I think the desire of all explorers, however two points stand out from your post, 1) black text on black background is invisible, and 2) we currently have a maximum of around 120 bookmarks not thousands, so until this max limit if increased there's no point in making other changes, so lets get it all done at once.

i cannot find point one and two? have those been rendered invisible already?

and BTW: if You use prefixes You can set all orders You like ... up until we get a nicer bookmark system

They don't want it read, their choice 🤷‍♀️ It doesn't matter - there'll be another variation of the suggestion along soon, and it's hardly like fdev haven't heard the demand for more bookmarks before, so no loss.
