A Problem with Systems at War.

I just did a mission, in a system that is at war, to kill 7 ships within a warzone. I did this and was given negative rep?!?

Am I missing something here?

I am allied/Viscount with the Empire so they are Green.

In the Warzone the other team seems to be System Defence Force/Independant (not green to me)

After I kill 7 of them, even if i scan them first and the 'Objective Complete' message pops up i still get bad rep (red down arrow)

I must be doing something wrong here surely but I'm just not seeing it right?

Are you aware, that within a combat zone you have to decide which side you fight on before you shoot at someone? You can do this in the right hand panel. (Edit: under the tab 'functions' --> Faction --> choose one!)

I guess otherwise it's the same like shooting someone who isn't wanted. You should also check if you have a fine or bounty on you now...

I am working for The Defence Force of Altani, Empire Aligned but they only seem to give missions from independant stations. And vice versa for the Independant missions, they only seem to appear at empire stations.

I shot the System defence Force not the imperials.

When you're looking at the Mission Complete screen or whatever it's called, it displays the rep for both factions. You should gain rep with the mission giving faction, and lose rep with the mission target faction. If this is not how it shows on your screen when you turn in your mission, you should submit a ticket to Frontier as that's a bug.

Does the station I take the mission from matter or just which faction gives the mission counts?

Just the faction that gives you the mission. Certain stations may have unique factions, but only the faction matters.

Hey,

I had the exact same problem in the exact same system today, I would swear blind when I hit the Choose Faction option that I chose to fight for The Defense Force of Altani after taking the mission from Hartman Ring. Trying to get the rep.

Gonna do it again tonight to check its not a mistake, will report bck asap.

1) did you pick the correct faction before shooting anything? Right hand UI functions top option click it and choose a faction.

2) You will get a negative rep towards the ones you shoot at either way whether it is Empire or independents. You also get a positive for the ones you helped. So if you shoot the independents then your rep for those will go down.

I received negative rep for the faction who gave me the mission although I shot the opposition, however i did not choose a side as never knew that option was there.

I will be trying again later after I have wrapped a mountain of boxes!!

Ok so I had another shot at this this morning.

Only job available for WARZONE was at Rubin Port in Altani

Faction: Defence Force of Altani - Empire

Entered WARZONE and selected faction - Defence Force of Altani from my right hand panel.

Proceeded to engaged and destroy the opposite faction which i gained bounties for.

Returned to Rubin port to hand in the mission and claim combat bonds, all lines of the debrief window were red except for the Empire faction was blue up arrow. When I checked my right hand panel both Empire and Defence force of Altani had red down arrows.

That leaves only one option left to try and thats to only accept missions from an empire station as Rubin Port is independant, though the mission was from the Defence force of Altani.

Or it's broken.

Capital ship arrived on the scene, thats was awesome. Almost ploughed me out of the way mind!

I really want to do the military fighting, it's really great to get wrapped up in such an immense fight scenario, but if it's gonna do this to my rep all the time they'll be shooting me instead!

It would be kinda nice if the game looked at your current rep factions and aligned you (automatically) when entering combat to your highest faction rating.

I can see how a lot of people missing the menu selection when entering a warzone.

Either that or have a comms message pop up when you enter a warzone that suggests you pick a side?

I tried a mission from the correct faction station, the correct faction and chose the correct side last night. Killed 7 in the warzone, handed in got such bad rep that I became unfriendly from allied.

Scrapped the whole thing for now till it's fixed, back to hunting Bandits.
