A proposition for Exploreres

I have had quite enough of Universal Cartographics hoarding of collected exploration data.
Its time we took a stand and refuse to hand in Exploration data, until Universal Cartographics agree to upgrade our ships GalMap with Exploration information already collected.
I do not mind paying for the Data, I just want the data collected available to all. Also visible on my ships Galmap.

Also with less than 0.1% (or something like that, as we dont have the data avail to know) discovered its time to share the info, Give us the tools to advance humanitys discovery's.
So.. if you would like to stop searching already Explored systems...

I still have slim hopes that the new Mission System(tm) finally includes UC as a Mission issuing Institution and pays (reasonable Credits + Rank Progression) to chart yet-uncharted Systems or groups of Systems.
Would be the 1st time, but there's still hope after all.

When it comes to the handling of Information in-game, I have to admit I basically lost hope.
Meta Alloys and UAs are a dime a dozen compared to the "exceedingly rare" good Information

(powerful Galaxy Map filters with visual and contextual functions so seek through all the owned System Data would be neat for a start - so at least as an individual CMDR one could sort a bit through the chaos... I can dream, right?)

Unfortunately even an explorer has got to eat. There are places in this galaxy I'd like to go that this little Cobra can't take me... and the only way I can pay for an Asp is with my data. Holding out on Universal Cartographics only punishes me.

Yer I would hate for a pilot to loose out.
I was just trying to come up with a way to get Universal Cartographics to release the Data they are keeping from us.
And alow us to use that data in GalMap.

Was just an Idea.... Please dont starve :)

Er. No.
I get paid for my data.
Universal Cartographic charges for that data.
Pilots who don't work for that data, have to buy it from somebody.
Why on Sol should you just it get it for free?
What is this? The Space Hippy Caravan Of Free Stuff.
No. Don't be daft.

The moment when we stop acting as individuals and start acting as a species, that is the day galactic peace will be achieved.

I don't fly to beagle and back, just to sit on a damn big pile of data in the bubble.

I hardly doubt, too, that it would make any difference if we stopped handing in data.

Going from getting a 50% bonus for first discoveries to only getting paid at all for first discoveries (which would be the consequence of marking systems as "explored and known" once anyone has visited them and returned) would I think not be good for explorers.

Oh you're one of those 'Distant Worlds' pilots are you? No stress in your boots gathering all that data, run out of fuel or damage your ship have the bloody fuel rats right out there catering to your every boo-boo. The lot of us explorers aren't so lucky as you, we go out 5,000-60,000 Ly on a regular basis, if WE run out of fuel we're dead. Ship breaks down. We're dead. Misjump? Dead. Distant Worlds was nothing but a chance for a bunch of people wet behind the ears who were to afraid to go it alone. Look at you and that nice little patch, the rest of us deep space explorers don't get such a fancy thing as that!

The reason that's funny is because she IS a Fuel Rat.

LOL

I'm not only a fuel rat myself, I'm a dispatcher and one of the mods in the fuel rats IRC, too. You're invited to join #RatChat everytime and look for Becci.

So I guess that makes your argument kinda invalid.

Btw, I am with limpets out there, so I have not only selfish motivations :D And I'm not in Distant Worlds, I'm currently somewhere between the Upper First Quadrant and the Galactic Aphelion :D

Yeah, i'm wiping tears... Also I'll casually remind you that the fuel rats have been to 65,000Ly for a lone rescuer, we've been out for people anywhere and everywhere. We spent over 200 (edit: fact checked - over 500!) limpets getting Neospike back into the bubble when his fuel scoop broke and we refuelled him every 2-3 jumps! In fact most rats are dying for a long range rescue or race mission because it's more interesting than someone 3 jumps away that messed up a trade route.
"We have fuel, you don't, any questions?"

On topic bit: Elite does gather that info. Distant Worlds has proved that Frontier can do a database search and find out who has visited X system. I suspect the problem is that they don't want every man and his dog doing database callups looking at other peoples data as they'd have to invest a lot of money in more exploration servers to keep it being run-able.
Not 100% sure, I'm confident some smart people could make it work but thats just my 2p thoughts so be nice :)

Said it before and I'll repeat: Love the Fuel Rats.

Oh well haven't YOU just waltzed up the ranks of the social ladder? Not only a dispatcher but also one of the CEO's I'm not changing my mind about ya, your only in it for numero uno, one thing I can't stand more than green-horns it's Fuel Rats ALWAYS lording their supremacy over the rest of us! Don't think I don't know how you guys make your money, sure you sometimes bring these poor stranded pilots back home alive, but most of the time you're just there stealing their ships and jettisoning them out of their own airlock! Taking the ships and cargo back with you to sell for profit. Best thing about it for you guys is that hey! No one will miss them! They're just another poor bloke or sheila who got their fannies baked in the outback!

Bloody fuel rats...

I can neither confirm nor deny that that has ever happened *serious PR face*

But feel free to call us anytime if you're in need of fuel :D
