Newcomer / Intro A question about Asteroid Belt sizes.

o7 all!

I have a small question or two about the size of asteroid belts, namely hotspots. For example, a double Plat hotspot, are these things massive to a point where one person couldn't clear it or are they relatively small?

For context, I was doing some Plat/Osm/Painite mining today and started running into depleted asteroids. I usually drop out at random spots as to prevent this. One answer could be that I accidently back tracked during a run, but is it possible I hit the same area?

Cheers,

Accidental backtracking can be annoying. What I usually do is either drop at the fringe od the hotspot and head towards the centre (i.e. keeping the hotspot marker targeted and heading towards it), or more often simply drop where I happen to drop and then try to head towards the planet.

As for the size, they are usually pretty big - at least a couple hundred kilometers across, often thousands. One would have to spend a REALLY long time there to mine it out to a point where there's no more stuff.
That being said, if you are in a hotspot that you've found on a third party tool or in some mining guide, you have to expect that probably dozens (or even hundreds, if it's a really good spot) of players were there before you.
That's one of the reasons I pretty much never mine in the Bubble but head at least a couple hundred LY out into the uninhabited space. The chances that somebody's been there are pretty slim. :)

You don't actually share laser asteroids with other players so if it's depleted it's depleted by you. The respawn time for laser rocks is 2 hours so don't keep dropping into the same spot in the same time period. Spots are so massive you should be able to mine different spots without running over old ground.

Thanks for the re[plies! Yeah I figured I backtracked over a spot and that belts were big enough that you rarely go past the same spot.
