A Question About Communications

I apologise if this has been asked before, but here goes anyway:

I am around 16,000LY from Sol and rapidly heading towards Sagittarius A. Last night I thought I would take a look at Galnet just for something to do while scooping and there it was, updated with the latest news.

Now, this is a great leap forward in terms of technology but if we can get the latest Galnet so far away then why can't we get trade information from a station 6LY away?

Just seems a bit odd to me.

those stations need to stay in business so if everyone sees every market in front of them they will never go and shop there.....basically for customer attraction reasons

"For gameplay reasons"

FD have made their call, even if it is inconsistent in a 'how the galaxy might work' sense, because they believe it leads to better gameplay. You may not agree.

Whilst the trade information thing is vaguely interesting, most true explorers would have asked the question based on why Galnet works, but we cannot send exploration data back, and thus have to risk potentially many millions (I estimate I have over 40 Million credits 'earned but not claimable' and am still heading away from the bubble. It is likely to be 200M or so by the time I get back.
