A question about exploration data and minor faction influence...

I've been out chooglin' through the galaxy, and my ship's computer is brimming with exploration data, but the specific minor faction I want to improve my relations with doesn't own a station! Is there still a way I can turn in my exploration data to them? I haven't been back since 1.3 and all the mission upgrades took place, so perhaps there's an avenue there I'm not aware of.

Anyways, any help from you fine forum folk would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks in advance!

From what I understand if you sell the data the owner of the station benefits, so if your faction doesn't own a station then you can't help them by selling the data.

No, afraid not.
Some say that dumping a lot of data on a station can actually lead to a big downturn in their fortunes in the following days. I dont understand how it works, if this was true, or if it has been "fixed"
It might aid the faction you are after, but wont increase your Rep with them

If you're thinking of trying to get a permit for a system, you might want to refer to this list...

I used it to get Allied status with Peregrina Aristocrats at HIP 18609. I'm still waiting for the permit mission though (they're apparently bugged atm).

Who are you trying to get Allied with Virgil?

Oh, it's not a system I need a permit for or anything like that - Just a minor faction I'd like to support, if possible. I prefer to hand in my exploration data to minor factions I like, or at least don't despise, hehe :p

Yuerk. I have fought the good fight for plenty of small deserving factions, but that one does not float my boat. It is very VERY difficult if the controlling faction has a good station to trade with, or there are RES that will be cashed in at their station.
Sol might be possible on your own as it totally sucks as a place to do ship business. I know it gets a lot of traffic, but as long as they dont do any buisness, they should not impact you.

I must admit, I am curious - Do you not want to help because it would be hard, or because of what faction it is? Not trying to put you on the spot or anything - Just genuinely curious, hehe :)

Because the faction sounded so dull ! I didnt look them up, so I may have misjudged them, but my favourite minor faction is Order of Van Maanens Star
Religious Order based on Poverty and Piety with a home system composed entirely of ice planets, but most of their missions involved murdering innocents or security, and their external stations were all pristine hi tech/hi wealth
So weird, I fell in love. They were by no means easy, as I only did the rare "nice" missions. I have been back a few times to try and boost them into further expansion, and was hoping that PP might make it doable (oh well) but the background simulator is just rubbish.

In that case, hand in ~5MCr worth of data at a station owned by your preferred faction and that will raise you up to Allied status without breaking a sweat.
If you don't have that much data, donating cash or taking on missions for that faction help push towards the Allied status as well.
