A question about respawn location after you slam your fully loaded Type-6 into another ship :D

Right, so I've died a few times already. I've only been playing for a week or so, but I've managed to be blown up by pirates, and during my first trek in my brand new Cobra, I learned the hard way that stars are very hot and you shouldn't fly directly at them for sustained periods of time.

But that's a story for another time. I had a question about how/where/why you respawn after you die. During previous deaths, I seem to recall respawning at the last station I was docked. Yesterday, I loaded up my Type 6 with Paladium and headed out for another round of space hauling. I was cruising out of the station and hit boost right as I was passing through the slit because that's what smart pilots do. Turns out, if you boost directly into a Type 7 that is heading directly at you, your ship explodes.

But then, to my dismay, I respawned at Trevithick Dock, around 300 light years from anything I had docked at in the past week. I think this is where I originally spawned when I first bought the game.

Can anyone help me understand what determines your spawn location? I am surely going to die again. Its what I am good at it turns out. I would just like to know how I can control at which station my somehow-still-living body arrives.

Cheers and thanks

Sounds like a bug. As far as i know you're always supposed to respawn where you last docked. At the insurance screen did you take your old loadout of go back to sidewinder?

When your ship blows up you are faced with the 'Buy Back' screen. This will prompt you to make s choice. Pay the insurance deductible and get the ship you just lost back, or keep your credits and go back to your original home and get a brand new Sidewinder. What choice did you make?

Thanks for the quick reply guys! Yes, looks like I accientally picked bankruptcy. So I just turned a 2 million CR mistake into a 6 million CR mistake.

Don't fly into stars. Check. Don't boost into Type 7s. Check. Don't click bankruptcy on a 300k insurance bill when you have 4 million credits of modules attached.

HEY, you're supposed to blame the developers for all your problems!!!!

It's nice to see someone with your attitude, hopefully you'll enjoy the game for a long time!!!

Now that you mention it, they could add a tutorial where you have to choose the bankruptcy option when your ship is worth 20x the insurance cost ;)

I'd have been, "what a stupid tutorial. Who would ever do this?"

This guy, that's who.
