A question about trading.

I was just curious as to what people recommend in terms of long hauls vs short hauls. Say as an example you make 200k on a round trip but it's a short trip. Maybe just one jump back and forth. But alternatively you could make 250k on a trip that takes 3 jumps. Is the time investment better spent on the small trip or the long trip? Or does it just come down to how much money you make on either and then going from there?

It varies. My experience with the CGs for instance are that the most profitable routes involve a bit of travelling. If you have a specced up trader then travelling time is fairly minimal. I usually look between 60 and 80ly but at the moment i am doing diso>leesti>persephone which is about 320ly round trip and i can do in about 30 mins. So yes, try out stuff and see what works for you

It depends on profit made and time taken not jumps

Time how long it takes to do each trade route and work out how many times you can run it in an hour to give you a profit per hour.

Then you can see which is best

I have a lot of fun just doing a random long haul with rares. Once you get ahead of the 160 ly curve you can start making good credits and without a plan there will always be a surprise waiting for you.

Measure trip times, calculate your CR/h and you'll have your answer. :)

I'm fine with short A-B routes, but some may prefer variety.

Note the time required for the round-trip route, watch the profit you get per tonne, do simple math and you will know the answer. E.g. trading on Anaconda with 452t of cargo capacity if the round-trip route is 1 minute longer than the other one it should provide 200Cr per more profit per tonne round-trip.
