General / Off-Topic A question for bartenders...

...or anyone who goes to bars a lot.

Hey guys.

so I'm a bartender and I'm not toooo bad at it, still learning though.

Tonight a man came in and sat down, was drinking for a while (I reckon he was pretty intoxicated, not ok to drive) and he said to me "Lager in the bin".

In all my time being a bartender, or even being alive, I've never heard anyone use the phrase "...in the bin" - for anything, let alone Lager.

Does anyone know this man meant by "lager in the bin"?

He got very cross when I asked him to explain and thus never got a definition! lol

Drunks hardly ever make much sense, but perhaps it was a local equivalent of "pint on tap?" i.e he was offering to buy you a beer "on tap" for you to pour when you finished work?

'One in the bin' implies 'one for later' - but who knows. As Asp so rightly says, drunks don't always make sense.

Perhaps he was referring to what his body needed to do next.

After all, I'm pretty sure that that's what Lager is anyway.
