Hi guys and gals,
I recently "upgraded" my GPU from a pair of GTX 680s to a single GTX 980. All was fine for the first month or so, then I updated to the latest driver set 344.65, just before I went on holiday, I always do a clean install for drivers as I consider the express route to risk leaving behind unwanted code.
I noticed afterwards (for the hour or so I had before I left) that I was experiencing driver failures in ED, that hadn't happened before - usually when in the region of gaseous planets, I also had the stutters that have been prevalent in the latest builds. I didn't have time to properly investigate and left it til I came back.
On returning the problems persisted, I checked out a few other titles and had display issues with them too, though the manifestation varied. I concluded that I may have a duff GPU and tonight I switched the GTX 980 out for one of my GTX 680s (luckily I still had one).
The problems immediately cleared up, somewhat confirming my suspicion I thought.
Just to be sure, I reinserted my GTX 980 - more on a wish than anything else. To my surprise it now appears to be working perfectly...
So I'm confused.
Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

So I'm confused.
- Has my 980 got an intermittent fault? I ran the hardest benchmarks I have to try and force an error and it was fine.
- Had the card shifted in the slot and perhaps wasn't making a perfect contact, so reseating it fixed the issue?
- Had the reboot somehow finalised my driver install ( I had rolled back my drivers to see if the problem was driver related) and cleared up the problem?
- Are my issues deeper seated? Possibly a motherboard or power supply issue, I am less inclined the think the latter as the 980 draws less than the 680.
Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
