A question for PC CMDR'S who trade (Trade Tool)

Is it permitted by Frontier? Like slopeys tool or any other tool. I've been watching PC players since the game released and I've always been curious about it. Honestly I think trading without a tool would be miserable and I think that's going to be my experience cause I haven't found any tool compatible with iOS (iPad)

Just interested to know if anyone knows if it's considered cheating or just shady.

I would definitely use one and hope Froniter can maybe integrate it but that will likely never happen.

Thanks for any replies, Vulpes Inculta.

Yes it's permitted by Frontier. As far as I know they've never made a statement about it either way.

p.s. not sure why this is in the PS4 section.

Question - my impression is ps4, xbox and pc users all operate in the same universe but can't interact with each other. If so, wouldn't the trade be the same?

Yeah, supply & demand is the same whatever platform you're on.

I would definitely use one

i wouldn't - at least not in the common way.

i have run a trade route over the last week with roughly 25% percent more profit, and 30% less traveltime than the best trade routes those tools could find.

basically frontier found a nice way (with so called "state depending trading") to beat the various tools, while permitting to use them.

Agree. You can learn a lot in the game if you're smart.

I don't have the game - waiting for the ps4 version. Do you do this by trial and error or some other method?

i have made post here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...re-your-tips?p=4939503&viewfull=1#post4939503

and with some further explanation here:

to add from todays practice.

1. use loop finder in eddb.io
2. set max price age to 1, so it calculates with states
3. set minimum profit to 4100
4. set minimum supply to 1440 --- you want to run that loop with your cutter

press find loop. uh. no loops can be found. this is where most "traders" end.

but we know we can beat eddb.io by using it.

1. - we want a military extraction economy in aisling duval space in boom. boom for high sell prices, low purchase prices. aisling duval cause additional profit via powerplay control bonus. extraction, because it will allow us to export to a hightech or industrial system.

- use eddb.io to find such an economy, look out for a station that has its last price updates longer than 1 day ago. use the galaxy map and the system map to check state, till you find a station which is in boom, what eddb.io doesn't know yet.

2. - we want something that generates massive profit. medical diagnostic equipment has high sell prices in service and military economy.

- use the commodity finder of eddb.io to look for sources of medical diagnostic equipment.

- only use those sources which had their price updates days ago and have a good supply.

- use galaxy map and system map to check for states. you don't want an outbreak with any faction present in that system, or any war, because those ruin the prices for medical diagnostic equipment.

3. take your DBE (or conda or AspE, if you fail to see the genius of a DBE), fly to source system, buy sample of medical diagnostic equipment, note prices of metals and minerals produced by extraction, fly to target system, check profits. transfer cutter.

gratulations, you have found a 4900 cr/t a-b-a route which isn't on eddb.io

... basically, instead of noting prices by hand, or using a tool, you learn about the conditions when massive profits are generated, and then you use a combination of ingame tools (galaxy map with its filters for economy, state, control etc. + ingames system maps) to find two markets with these conditions.

looking forward to you getting into the game!

Thanks, it's all Greek to me now but once I get the game I'm sure it will make sense.
