Newcomer / Intro A question of persistence: settlement raids

If I get a mission to kill everyone in a settlement, and successfully carry it out (even removing the power distributor afterwards), what is meant to happen to the settlement in the aftermath?

If I fly away in supercruise, is it meant to remain "dead" until someone restores the power?

Will it appear "dead" across platforms and modes, to other players? Or is it purely now deserted just for me?

When you attack a settlement, you actually attack its controlling faction. Too many attacks affect their INFluence negatively, and they may enter a state that closes down some or all of their settlements. They may even drop their influence to a point where they start a conflict (war/civil war if their ethos allows it or election ) with another faction. Then new kinds of missions spawn (reactivation, massacre, combat zones, etc).
