Newcomer / Intro a question of rewards

Good Morning All,
Its me again, how are ya doing?
I've got a couple of questions; this time regarding rewards being given out for completed missions.

1) For example, Minor faction A is offering a mission to deliver cargo to another system and in the fine print of the mission it indicates that the cargo is being delivered to Minor faction B.
When that mission is completed are the listed REP and INF bonuses granted by the shipper, receiver or both equally?

The reason I'm asking is because I want to make sure that I'm not inadvertently stealing influence from my allies in Faction A (in the system where the cargo is being delivered) and giving it to the "nobodies" in Faction B.

2) In a system with 2 Stations in it, Minor Faction A controls the system as well as Station #1. Minor Faction B Controls Station #2.
As INF seems to be based on the system as a whole, and not individual stations, I was wondering if there is a way to wrest control of Station #2 away from Faction B and give it to my allies in Faction A.

Thx in Adv
Cannabal

1: I am pretty sure all rewards are provided by the minor faction you are working for.
2: Possibly but the number of players required would depend on the population of the system/stations as I understand it, hopefully a BGS expert will be along to explain soon.

1) A (the mission giver) will get what's due according to the mission description. B will receive some (unspecified, additional) minor amount.

2) Sure. Supposing both factions in that system are above (IIRC) 7% influence, and A's influence is larger than B's. Then "all" you need to do is raise B's influence (or lower A's) so that they're on equal influence. This will trigger the competition (depending on the faction's ethoses (ethii?), that could be a (civil) war, or an election). Winner of that competition takes the asset from the loser, so you "only" need to make sure your guys win. Depending on system size and random traffic, this could be as little as killing a single ship in one combat zone, or an (almost) endless struggle.

Ninja'd...

Remember that REP is rewarded to you while INF is a benefit gained by the faction when you do work for them. This may be obvious to you, but I wasn't sure based upon the wording of your post. Forgive me if I misunderstood.
The INF benefits the faction from who you accepted the mission but I was under the impression that a small amount of INF is also awarded to the faction to who you deliver the mission result. I am not sure about that, including if it applies to all missions, etc., so best to check with more experienced BGS-ers!

You can definitely wrangle control of facilities from factions! That's a big part of the machinations of meddling around.

There is a Background Simulation board on these forums. You'll find lots of experienced players there, including the awesome moderator, @Jane Turner.

Have fun learning (a little or a lot) about the intricate thing that is the BGS!

Thanks All! :)
I appreciate you taking the time to respond and giving me those links where I dive right in and geek right out. :D

follow up: That was a fantastic read Kreiger! Absolute gold!
I gave it a once over while enjoying my morning coffee and have bookmarked it for easy future reference.

Stay Awesome!

Well, I never knew that and I have been fooling around with the BGS since at least 2015. The worrying thing is that I have had some success (enough to keep me amused) despite my dreadful ignorance.

Thank you

In response, I simply had to review my logs from my early days. I spent a good two months exclusively doing missions for single system's faction(s) to just a couple of systems nearby. This was during the days of feeling the need to earn credits, learning how to fly, evade, just beginning to realize how useful those Mats would be, etc., when one is typically oblivious to the BGS. Once allied, those factions kept handing out what seemed at the time to be outrageous pay and useful rewards (Mats) for missions. That was really compelling at the time - so I took them!

In retrospect I wondered what impact I might have had doing so much work for one system's faction(s). It turns out that the system is a very low traffic one - uh oh! To counter that potential lever I might have had though, it turns out that the system is quite populous (in the billions). So it's not conclusive without more digging. Maybe some other time - if I happen to be nearby.

If you ever REALLY want to know, have a look at your Journal files when you have handed in, it will tell you the Inf and Rep gains with both factions (unless one of them is in a Conflict when INF is ommited as INF is unaffected)

You can look up the faction on inara.cz and see graphs charting influence over time in those systems. If there's a spike around the time you were there, that's probably you. However as a rule of thumb large populations are much harder for one CMDR to effect much change.
