Newcomer / Intro A question on the X52.

I've been playing flight sims for a good few years now, Elite longer. I finally decided that it's time to upgrade my trusty thrustmaster T.flight HOTAS x. I was looking into the X52 and I was wondering if it has a center for the throttle similar to the T.flight, so you can have access to reverse thrust and forward thrust on one axis. I'm not interested in pressing a button to change the entire axis, as that would mean having to unlearn hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of combat in Elite. Also, is there any other HOTAS people would recommend that are good for Elite and have forward and reverse thrust on one axis?

My X52 Pro works like that (though I use the hold button full axis approach) and I believe the X52 does as well, never used any other HOTAS so wouldn’t know how many others work that way.

It's been about three years since I had my X52Pro so details are hazy, but the throttle can be modified to suit your needs (if you're willing to void the warranty)

Stock throttle has these really annoying "afterburner detents" - basically you push the throttle all the way, which represents about 85% thrust and then you have to push it past the detent to 100%. Great for fighter jets, annoying in Elite.

So I dismantled the throttle and removed the detents to have a smooth travel all the way. I couldn't be bothered to do that, but you could make similar detents to mark the centre of the throttle travel if you want to use it in full range from -100% to 100%.

I use full range, too. I don't like the reverse button. But all I did was to put a bit of a dead zone in the middle and the rest is a muscle memory, you will have no issues putting the throttle reliably to 0 after a couple of hours.

Currently I am using the T.16000 FCS HOTAS (throttle and stick) and I can also only recommend it if you want alternatives. The stick is far superior to that of X52Pro, but the throttle is worse. (still usable and it has an analog joystick for vertical/lateral thrusters, but I did like the X52 throttle a bit more)

Ok thanks, that's really helpful. The throttle was what was putting me off the T.16000 but I'll into it a bit more now.
