A question to FDev: Nameplates, but the store in general as well

I appreciate how you guys are throwing in options for us to customize our ships more. Naming and assigning registry numbers to our ships was a welcome change, even if it'll go unnoticed to most. And you're clearly vested in further cosmetic options, as the new nameplates show.

But I have one question.

What about regular, no-frills lettering? In the case of the store in general, why not give people something that's minimalistic instead of garish or flashy? I know it's not just me that would like having a simple name stenciled on to my ship's hull without other things accompanying it. The AI has the nameplates I'm talking about, so I know the assets are there. Right now, the closest anyone has to minimalistic nameplates would be the big fake out in our nameplates tab, where you can select the ship registry boundary but it slaps your chosen registry in really big numbers.

This is really the only instance I've personally experienced where I want something that's not over the top. But why not give us little, less ALL IN YOUR FACE things in the store too?

The 'classicnameplate' version doesn't suit? I haven't bought it myself so don't know what that one looks like in game but it looks pretty minimalist.

Why it wasn't one of the initial plates offered way back I don't know - just as another thread is discussing, they introduce this one after everyone wanting the basic style has compromised using one of the earlier variants.....

Good on the marketing team lol I personally picked up the Federation plates. I am now waiting for a Federal suit or something. It would be cool if you could get faction interiors for your ships at some point as well.

I like the design of the Federal and Imperial plates where the emblem is behind the text, but I have no particular allegiance to any superpower so they're not ideal for me. What would be really nice is a nameplate that combines the ship's name with the CMDR's Combat, Trading or Exploration rating. A sort of hybrid of the rating Decal and the Classic Nameplate.

Might be a lot of work, though. I don't think the game can generate these things on the fly so you'd need 27 variants (nine ranks, three colours) for each of the three careers (four if you include CQC). Might be an expensive pack.
